Finally finished the Episodic Thoughts for Perish In The Name Of Love. I also added a Question & Answered page for some Unanswered questions in the episodic thoughts of mine as well as added more names into Cast List. Overall this was an enjoyable experience to rant episode per episode. The review will be posted as soon as the template is fixed.

Eric Bana
I want to talk something about Eric Bana. He was a comedien but when I saw him being interviewed, he is not funny and he is not very articulate. But he is very handsome and he is a good actor, not great but good. Haven't seen Chopper, but from what I have seen he has the potential to be a very charismatic leading man. But he is so boring in real life! Is this like a ploy to throw off female attention, like Hey I am married with kids, I am boring, don't think I am sexy?

Back to Holland Village. I feel disgusted when Ling Ling suggested to Yan Yan that Yang Yang is very sorry for causing her arrest. Yeah right! Yang Yang was right! Yang Yang should scream at Yan Yan by saying 'WHAT ABOUT XIAO HUI! YOU KILLED HER!" not like I am so sorry look. And Yan Yan is always saying Yang Yang betrayed her and all, for Heaven's sake, why can't her sisters just ignore her and let her rot in prison, maybe she will realise she was at fault?! Anyway I saw the themesong sequence and I saw XIAO XIN!! Anyone, anyone, please tell me when is he coming back? WHEN?!?!?!
King Of Yesterday And Tomorrow
I missed Ep 1 and 2 and now I am at Ep 4. Perhaps someone will be so kind to tell me what happened in Ep 1 and 2? Anyway I really like this series. So far I find it intelligent and engaging. Kong Wah is marvellous, glad to see my favourite Kong Wah is back. But better not say more before praises might jinx this series!
PITNOL
So glad it will be over tomorrow. Anyway Vigilante Force will be taking over the 9.30pm slot at ASTRO Wah Lai Toi. A bit surprising because I thought KOYAT will take prime time. In June Life Begins At Forty will be shown. Hmmmm...can I stand Charmaine's puppy dog looks or will this be like An Herbalist Affair? Should I start an Episodic Thoughts on this series?
By the way, feedback please. What do you think of PITNOL episodic thoughts? Helpful for those who haven't watch it yet and disgusting to those who did? Email me or write them in the guestbook.

I know the reviews page has gone haywire, some links aren't working and all. I have given up on using the weblog as a reviews page since no one is commenting in the reviews anyway and I want to create a forum which is better. So I will revert to HTML templates. For older reviews, the access thing is still ok so I wonder what's the problem? Anyway give me a week to sort this out.

I am going to see Troy tomorrow and I am ready to view all the gorgeous men! Someone said you can be Jennifer Aniston for a day, to look at the gloriously naked (and I heard frequently naked) Brad Pitt (well maybe not in Malaysia) but pity, can see can't touch! Hector! Hector! Getting ready with the tissues! Been reading about Troy and Trojan war thanks to Kidd for that lovely link which I shall share with you guys/girls later!

Anyone who has seen this series can you confirm this? Last night I saw the episode where Rou Rou was raped and today, suddenly 2 years has passed, Tian Yang was imprisoned? Did I missed an episode or it is like this? Xiao Xin will appear again! Yeah! When? When?
Harry Potter 3
My most anticipated movie of the year, I saw the trailer and I must say Daniel Radcliffe improves a lot as an actor and of course his handsome feature more handsome now. 14 only and looked so grown up! So tall! Scary! Anyway saw them all in jeans and sweaters at Hogwarts! Irritating, because JK Rowling specifically said the wizarding folks are alaways amuse at the muggle's cloths so how come there they are in jeans? And what is Hermione doing holding Ron's hands and all? The sexual tension (if any) doesn't start until book 4 and already it's here in movie 3! And why was she punching Malfoy? It's slap I think. But the effects were awesome and definitely will be better than the first 2. Anyway I saw the Cuoron's movie, Y Tu Mama Tambien. Please tell me, what's so great about this explicit sexual adventure pseudo homo-erotic movie?
Ahhhh...I shall be going away on Friday to watch the Ten Tenors sing at Genting Highlands. I shall miss one episode of PITNOL, and because I am watching Troy tomorrow, I shall be missing 2 episodes of King of Yesterday and Tomorrow (8.30-Wah Lai Toi - I expect this series to replace PITNOL but well PITNOL is still going on and on and on) and Holland Village! What will happen?? Arghhhhhh...
By the way fans of HP, this Sunday Astro will show the making of HP2 and I do know this is one you shouldn't miss. The movie I will miss since I have the DVD.

I am desperate to watch Troy and of course when Harry is here, I will apparrate myself to the cinema and stay there. Was Brad so good? I heard he wasn't but this gushing female fan said he was Greek God personified. What about his acting? Statue Greek God or real Greek God?
I am desperate to watch Hector but I heard he will die and so will Archilles. But I care about Hector because I really like Eric Bana after his very charismatic turn as The Hulk which watch scene per scene isn't that good but as a whole movie it is good. I also heard Paris was useless.
Ahhhhhh, for the love or lust of one woman the whole kingdom fell. I still feel the actress who played Troy could not have launched a thousand ships. Maybe Catherine Zeta Jones when she was in Zorro could launch a thousand ships (not now though) but that actress, Dianne Kruger or is it Diana Kruger, she looked pretty ordinary to me. Who do you think has the face that can launch a thousand ships in TVB? I will say one ship launched is already the most some of the actresses will get!

Now I know why my B2evolution template totally screwed up. They're using XHTML! And I was like WHAT is that? Apparently it is better than HTML and combines with XML so we have XHTML, the better language. The catch? HTML allows for unclosed tags and all and this XHTML doesn't. All must be lowercase which means some javascript may not show up or something. I mean is that good? I love HTML. Flexible. What is so great about XHTML? Huh? Huh?

Does anybody here knows how to edit the B2Evolution template? Why can't I post HTML tags like br or center? How do I overcome this apart from using CSS files which is troublesome? Why can't I do it directly in all my posting?

Shocking. I mean she is boring as a performer but booted when she should be in top 3? What is Jasmine Trias still doing there anyway?? I am so shocked. What song they sang? What was the theme? I thought Latoya would be 2nd, Fantasia 1st? Now Diana I can't dispute. She should be in top 3 but Jasmine should go!

Gloria Estefan may be of Latin roots but not all her songs could be considered Latin. What about Ricky Martin?
Horrible singing by most, not their problem but because the songs themselves were wrong for them. The best was actually Diana, the worst and I must admit was John. He should be kicked out. His singing was flat but nobody blamed him. He himself knew it because come on, he can't do Latin. Simon gave him the best compliment when he said he took every bullet like a man though he was only 16. I agree, I agree. I think this statement was made after the many accusations made by many toward the Hudson booting episode. I really disliked Fantasia calling out Hudson's name when she was singing. What if Hudson won AI? Will Fantasia be so happy for her?
Come on, be real.
Anyway John looked very handsome in this episode, I was amazed how good he looked. His singing was another matter.

Xiao Xin is gone! No more Xiao Xin!!! Stupid Jing Jing, dumb Jing Jing. For once I finally see Yu Hong Tzi in a nice top and nice pants and that was only for 2 minutes max and then he was gone! I read in a forum about Singaporean actors and who is handsome and who is not. Many became a fan of Shaun Chen after I guess this series (though he has moved company since, wonder what he is doing now?) but many more couldn't understand why girls like him since he is not Christopher Lee or Lee Nanxing they say. I always thought Christopher Lee looked tall and has handsome features. But he looks constipated. Why Shuan Chen is my man is because he is not too good looking until he is unattainable and yet no ugly to turn women off. He is quite tall I think. Moreover he is Malaysian. Unless you tell me he is no longer Malaysia, I will continue to support fellow Malaysians. He is good looking. Don't you all agree?
Anyway I give up on Blogger's comment feature. I will upload the reviews at the end of this week.
By the way Troy is coming soon! Many may wish to see Brad Pitt but my guy is either Eric Bana (Hector!) and Orlando Bloom (Paris!). I still feel this Helen of Troy is not gorgeous enough.

I want to talk about this episode because I almost felt like throwing the TV out of the window.
The entire episode talks about carrot cake and kuih lobak. That is Hong Zhi is carrot cake that you will find in a posh restaurant and Jing Jing is the kuih lobak where you'll find in any pasar malam. What Jing Jing was saying of course the two don't mix at all, and so she is not in Hong Zhi's league. I find that insulting and offensive. Why can't a nice girl like Jing Jing not be compatible with a nice guy like Hong Zhi? She kept saying Hong Zhi is no longer Xiao Xin. Ok so his mom is a bit bitchy but can you blame the mother for complaining about his son's choice for his wife? Jing Jing is undeniably stupid and in this episode, undeniably low self esteem. Hong Zhi is like this inspiring motivation speaker, trying to talk some senses into her and she go blab about inappropriate things and in the end ended the engagement because she is kuih lobak. In the end she will marry the chicken rice seller.
There is nothing wrong about Ah Ming the chicken rice seller. A decent man with a decent business. There is absolutely nothing excellent about Hong Zhi, except he is rich, young, handsome and very inspiring. What I find offensive is Jing Jing. She herself created her own destiny and she go and say things like Xiao Xin is not Xiao Xin but Yu Hong Tzi. I was like, so? Even when he was Xiao Xin, he was very smart, very resourceful and someone you might expect to be a very successful man, even when he thought he was an illegal immigrant from China. For me Yu Hong Tzi is Xiao Xin.
So when she said that kuih lobak and carrot cake thingy, I was thinking we are Asians. An expensive carrot cake can be placed on the same table as kuih lobak to be enjoyed by all. Put in a lobster, tiramisu, roti canai, dim sum, nasi lemak ... whatever suits you fancy, just enjoy. So for me there is no distinction.
I am sure many Singaporeans watching this series might feel insulted by Jing Jing's reasoning. Well, I do think Hong Tzi should just marry Angel.
Anyway, I guess this is like the last time I will see handsome Hong Tzi. Feel a bit sad because now left only with one handsome guy in the show.
By the way anybody knows any fansite dedicated to this actor Shaun Chen? I found one on that Jing Jing girl. She was even top 20 in the recent Star Awards! I would have thought Shaun should be in top 20, because his expression in that scene when Jing Jing called off the engagement was very well done. It was like, "If you say so, what more could I say?" kind of look.
By the way the review template is 90% fixed. I just found out my tagboard has gone haywire, missing all the posts on AI3!!

Best John Stevens Song

Technically not his song. Thanks to Kidd who generously shared some great links to download his segment in AI3, I found myself enjoying most of his rendition. Of course I avoided My Girl and I have yet to hear that Latin night song. I remembered that I said Casablanca was his best thought Mandy was his most emotional song. I like to change that. I have been listening again and again to Lately and I must say, his best was Lately. Though not as much of emotion as when he sang Mandy but somehow it was such a beautifully sung song. I really enjoyed Lately. Maybe at that time he wasn't under so much pressure and he actually enjoyed the process. I wonder what he's doing now?
I know I promised some new reviews but somehow my template is just you know not ok. I am so sick of it now but I'll try to fix it and upload the new reviews in the next few days. And I think I'll adopt some suggestions by you guys (girls) that is create a forum. I do like tagboards but well it has been out of action for a few days. And by the way PITNOL page will be updated from Monday to Friday until the last episode.
Thanks for your active discussion on AI3. Certainly made this site more colourful.

I want to talk about this series and the episode I saw tonight which was mainly about naive stupid Jing Jing and smart handsome Xiao Xin. In the end I read that Jing Jing married Chicken rice seller Ah Ming and I bet the reason was because she thought she was not good enough for Xiao Xin and that Xiao Xin had changed. Ok, so he changed after he gained his memory and even snapped at her, but this girl is so fond of calling herself stupid, and all I also will snap at her. Can someone be that stupid to throw away her happiness with someone great and settle with someone so much lesser? I don't know.
Anyway I thought the acting were brilliant. But that Xiao Xin's voice was dubbed and when he was speaking English, my God he sounded like a Russian speaking English! I don't understand, he came from Australia, worked in America and he sounded like a Russian? But my my my, Shaun Chen is very handsome in my personal and humble opinion. But for Yu Hong Tzi who is supposed to be very rich, does he really need to dress like Bill Gates? Can't he have a better wardrobe? Yesterday he was wearing this horrible pants, today he had on a psychedelic shirt! But he is handsome though. I wonder this actor is doing now?
That is all I want to say, that there is a handsome Malaysian lurking in Mediacorp somewhere!

AI3- BARRY MANILOW NIGHT

Wow, Barry Manilow was so kind and so generous as a musician. I am not his fan but I feel he is such a decent guy, totally devoid of ego.
Anyway the singing were all quite alright. The worst was George, sad to say he was tuneless and sometimes out of tune. The song was the problem. Barry Manilow's songs have range but they are best sung in a straight forward manner. Too much colour added will only spoil it. The so called 3 divas coloured his song alright.
For once I thought Jennifer Hudson sang well in a very controlled voice UNTIL she screamed from the middle to the end, and I am convinced she being kicked out in the results night for this theme is right. She has no talent except to scream.
As for Latoya London, she looked so boring when she was talking but when she was singing, let's just say she also screamed to the end with the camera going round and round her. Horrible rendition if you ask me.
Fantasia was wonderful, her performance impeccable, her song quite alright. I just find it distasteful that she got special treatment when her daughter was brought up on the stage. How come John was not given the same treatment, where he can bring his grandparents on the stage?
Jasmine was quite alright, and for once she sang with emotion. She looked very sweet. As for Diana, better than the last theme but still not quite good enough for me. But she looked sweet also.
As for John Stevens, I love his rendition of Mandy. Everybody was right; the first few lines were beautifully sung but of course he could not maintain his momentum and could not catch up with the fast paced song (and it was a slow song mind you) that he faltered in the middle but brought it to a nice end. I found his singing filled with emotion and his face filled with emotion also. I also found him adopting a new style, instead of the usual Big Band style, he sang in a very pure way, something like Robin Gibb but of course not as excellent as Robin Gibb. I believe he was being pressured to perform well and sing like the divas, so maybe he was nervous. I pity him, because he has talent but too much negative force killed his confidence. I still feel his Movie Theme performance was excellent. Thanks to Kidd who gave me a few links to download his songs, and I remembered how great he was with the song Lately and all. A pity though he is no longer in the competition and then they did a big band night. I dare say, conspiracy!!
Barry Manilow was such an encouraging guy. Glad to see him in this show, where he actually understood the singers and their needs. John especially whom I thought really flourished emotionally under Barry's guidance. Simon was horrible to him by saying what he said. I thought John as talented but needs guidance from someone like Barry Manilow.
Anyway latest news just in and Kidd told me I can swicth off my TV. George got kicked off after I think Big Band night. Jasmine and Diana still there. I don't understand, how come?? When Jennifer Hudson was kicked off, people say racist. Now can I call the voters sexist?
Now who will be the American Idol? I have this sinking feeling Miss Boring London but Fantasia will sell more albums.

Thanks for all the info I asked for. Anyway I want to say something about this series. I regret that I did not start an episodic thoughts on this but anyway when I started watching this series it was already like over 15 episodes. I know some of you do not like this series, perhaps because it is very petty? I noticed that none of the characters in this series ever achieve success either in love or in career. Doomed characters most of them that sometimes I feel rather hopeless watching this series. But the acting, the scripting all are very very good. There was a time that local magazines seem fond of criticising TCS actors, now they're all Mediacorp actors and I find their acting natural and very real. Everybody is my favourite performance you know. There are many characters in here that I like watching though I may hate them. I especially find some actors looking like stars you know though they aren't good looking. The good looking ones are tall, nicely built and young. Pierre Png for one who looks amazingly young, maybe I watched too much of PCK. The guy with that wierd face who plays the younger brother of this evil brother, he's quite ok. My favourite is Xiao Xin, the actor is I think Shaun Chen (is it Cheung Hongyu?). I thought he looked like a Sean and well, more exotic spelling but still the same name. A Malaysian! And dubbed voice. Some of you said that maybe his voice isn't good and all. True or false? Maybe he speaks with a Hokkien accent? I thought the person who dubbed him should be dubbed when speaking English because horrible English. Reportedly he had a reputation for touching the girls, especially the actress who plays Jing Jing?
Now I don't understand. They're supposed to be girlfriend and boyfriend so a few hugs is inevitable. Luckily this is not Hollywood because they might have to kiss and kiss to show how much they're in love. So far only one kiss scene and it looked more like camera angles than real kissing.
Some girls are all terribly thin but still looks healthier compared to the HK actresses. A few has what I call body to die for like Cynthia Koh. I know the girl called Vivian Lai (I think, she plays Rou Rou) is from Taiwan right? I am still a bit blur with the names, just having discover there is more to Singapore made series than Fann Wong and Zoe Tay.
I will talk more about this series in my upcoming review but it won't be soon because I am only at 70+ episodes and this series is like really long. I would like to recommend this series to everybody though because it is very rare you see such a well acted series with memorable characters and very local flavours. Do check out the handsome guys (the young ones of course) and the pretty girls (also the younger ones though the older ones have very nice skin). At this moment ASTRO is showing this series at 7pm from Mon-Fri (repeats at 11pm) on Channel 19 (AEC). You missed a lot if you start to watch now though.
