SELECTED POSTS

This page, NEWS & UPDATES which is actually the index page of this website has grown into a huge database of my almost daily ramblings of all stuff I hold dear to my heart, including gossips of the most sordid kind. For your convenience, I have posted a list of posts which I thought is pretty informative in my own way that you might find interesting. The list itself may be long but those selected few are the ones I thought drives home the point I wanted to make. Do check them out in MY POINT IS [Comments & Opinions].

SERIES' SUMMARIES

Sometime in 2004 I began reviewing selected series in an episode by episode way, where I called these reviews EPISODIC THOUGHTS. These thoughts are mostly summaries of each and every episode with my opinion of that episode included in it as well. I may not provide the most in depth summaries but I am very proud of the fact that I could keep the writing on such a long winded basis each and every night for the entirety of the series. I don't do this for each and every series though because it kills a lot of brain cells, mine as well as fellow netizens who often joined in the discussion by posting informative stuff. These thoughts are still open for feedback and discussion. Do check them all out in REVIEWS where it is indicated with an  [E] next to my name.

OFFBEAT STUFF

There is this one section in here that features offbeat stuff that are not entertainment based. The section is known as FUNN STUFF [COMMENTS & OPINIONS].

PERSONAL FAVOURITES

There are 3 sections in here that contain my personal favourites of all kinds. THE DDGs [COMMENTS & OPINIONS] which features specially made websites by myself with info & all related stuff of my favourite stars or stars I like to talk about, MEDIA & MUSIC FILES [DOWNLOADS] which has my favourite VODs and music files, most of them are taken from Chinese & Korean dramas & movies and some of which I am hosting for my net friends and THE STORYTELLERS [WEBSITES], where you'll find stories written by amateur writers like you and I.

Do check them all out!

So many wrong wrong spelling. Just like old me!

Reviews coming soon & a long speech
Permanent link Post a Comment 2 comments

After much thought I have decided to write a review for TVB's The W Files because

a) it is Gallen's last series

b) I didn't really watched episode per episode BUT I watched enough to form a judgment

c) I love to review series about Aliens, voodoos, bomohs, immortals, etc because I find them so out of this world, if done well it will be a classic, if done badly, it will turn up not just boring, but horribly boring (like Taken for instance, really no storyline whatsoever but streeeeeeeeetched to like forever to make it as a mini series)

d) Yoyo Mung is in here

e) Tavia is in here

f) Liu Kai Chi is in here

g) Evergreen Mak is in here

h) who else is NOT in here?

and more importantly, I have plenty to say but interestingly enough I saw only ONE review at SPCNET (who gave it a 5 out of 5) and no where else! And the main reason why I am writing a review? Because there is a perfect rating for this series. My main point will be is bad effects (that looks borderline disastrously cheap for a TV station as rich as TVB) enough to turn off peple away from watching Gallen in his last outing?

As for Seed of Hope, I didn't quite catch it at first but after hearing Patrick Tam's dream like beautiful voice, handsome face (did he go for some facial or something? He looked so good!) and some good acting from young children and Kenix being ... well Kenix again, I think I want to write about this series that for once has SERIOUS social issues but really, is it that well dealt with?

Now for Episodic Thoughts, thanks for the suggestions. I saw the trailer again for Not Just A Pretty Face and I change my mind. It looks ridiculous but interesting. But I have decided to do an episodic thought for Triumph in the Skies because of

a. Francis Ng

b. Francis Ng's bad Elvis hairstyle

c. pilots, we have pilots

and really because

d. how can I not do an Episodic Thoughts on a series which has a title which really spells TITS?

Also coming soon is a review of Love Is Beautiful from MediaCorp and a reconstruction of my IN series of the moment, Changing Lanes at my Shaunsation which is spoilt by ONLY ONE FACTOR; really if this one factor was dealt with with much care and love, believe me, this series will earn my top ratings because it dared to showcase a character so despicable that you will learn to love him when he turned good, and a very valid reason why he turned good and that ONE FACTOR is that bloody ending thanks to bad editing and rushed production. I can think of no other reason to justify the slaughter of a really good plot other than the fact someone in the editing room was in a hurry to go somewhere else.

And what else?

Oh yeah if you see some missing stuff in this page and if it looks wierd, it is going thru a renovation. My blogger is not well so it is half way through.

Until then, I would like to reiterate my focus for this website.

Someone some time ago wrote a really thought provoking comment about my recent reviews, that is to say I have mellowed down. I have re read my new reviews and lo and behold, true enough, my reviews (the recent ones like the past year) have been

1. too darn long winded on the plot, I was like a robot reitering the plots, but never gave input

2. too much comments about unimportant stuff

3. very unenthusiastic writing

I realised I wanted to change my style some time ago because I was writing for the masses. I then re read my older reviews, like this person who said my better ones were when I first started, when things were short but nothing sweet, where I let my emotions run high and write what I really feel instead of what I think I should feel in your place. I realised the last good honest review I have written which basically voiced my thoughts in an unequivocal manner was Eternal Happiness. I am usually at my best when I am at my most sarcastic and I am usually at my most sarcastic when I hate a series. But I once did the same to Demi Gods and Semi Devils which I loved, and it remains as one of my best reviews that I really like. In short I lost my style. I want to reclaim my style.

So I have decided to announce, in light of all the circumstances in here, I am going to retire ..

I mean retire from writing nonsense that matters to you. Nope, I am going to write nonsense that matters to me, ME and MEEEEE.

If you look at my PITNOL episodic thoughts, I was my best in the first few episodes but as times went by I was shall I say lame. I have no more energy to write about history like I used to do with Legend of Lady Yang, or that one about that 4 Chinese scholars (can't remember the title), A Step Into The Past. I do look forward to that conquerer's story starring Kong Wah, maybe then I have my passion for history reignited.

There was a time I thought the influence of my reviews are dead, because no one cares to comment. I realise now perhaps you like me may have absolutely nothing to say so better not say anything. I mean I am surprised by the fact that you do read what I post in this page itself. Thanks to a few mails once in a while of those who have followed my reviews from the days of Ebuzz who said they lost their way and found their way back to this website, I have to say a big thank you. Many say all good things must end. BS. All good things must continue, strive to make it better, only this time the enjoyment is not mine alone but with every netizens.

Yes, I am running for a political seat, which is why I am making a speech.

Ok, back to square one. I need to rethink the old me, the opinionated me, and the me that didn't care for what everybody else thinks, because an opinion is an opinion. I value an opinion, I value even more a constructive opinion because that means I am alive, I am my own person and my brain is active.

Thanks for the good mails, thanks for remembering the old times.

I think E-Buzz was truly the best. Because then I didn't have to worry about layout or updating the website, I just write. Seagull has long gone to greener pasture. Maybe I should just stop trying to make layouts I like and start writing the way I love.

Where was I?

Oh yeah, vote for me ok.

Anyway thanks. You all have been the best, though you never reply (many wrote they never leave any messages even from E-Buzz days but feel compelled to now and I guess because I suck now) to my of my comments, I appreciate the fact about 40 people or so visit this website daily, and I suspect out of 40, about 30 of the hits are refreshing the browser. Am I being humble? No. This is reality. This ain't SPCNET, this aint's TVB News Roundup. I am not jealous. In fact I am very active in those SIngaporean forums, just write Shuan Chen and there I will be, posting away. My aim has always to create a personal site that is about entertainment. Which is why this place is called Point2Entertainment.

Which is why I am starting my Yue Ling Connection again, only this time it is called The DDGs. I guess I need to be silly sometimes to get my serious persona type of vibe.

Why am I yacking on and on and on?

I can't stop. I see my old self again! YEAH! NOT!

Anyway, coming back is also The Storytellers. I have been saying this a long time but it has to come back. And I will be posting the old reviews slowly, this time without posters. It's the posted that set me back. Who bothers with posters right? I am suire you know which series I am talking about when it comes to TVB.

Anyway, one last shout.

SHAUN CHEN RULES!

(A girl got to have a favourite IT guy of the moment, he's mine for the time being until such time I dislike him, I shall say his name once in a while so that Google will list his name, one loooong list).

Oh yeah, the series that never dies, Armed Reaction IV is coming. I can't stand the tragedy that befalls Sam Yuen whilst her uncle is always only falling in and out of love. How routine.

Depressing news
Permanent link Post a Comment 0 comments

First Gallen left. Then Kong Wah. Then Wong Jim (ok, he died, nobody can control nor change that) and now I read LIU KAI CHI is leaving TVB/retiring/probably more money elsewhere!

What is TVB doing to retain all these wonderful actors?

No wonder why they had to give Shirley Yeung, Ron Ng, Gigi Lai all those awards, not because to reward greatness nor to retain them but because the good ones have left, those left behind are increasingly bad to mediocre.

The award to Shirley is an indication that it is time we celebrate mediocrity.

If Bowie leaves, I can safely say, there are no more actors' actor in TVB save for those you can count with your ten fingers.

And there aren't any that are exactly so good looking and sexy that you just want to stare and forget about their horrible acting. Ok Kevin Cheng is still here, he's not THAT bad an actor.

Which is why I look forward to Yummy Yummy (which is now called Food For Life, Yummy Yummy is so catchy and Food For Life sounds like Wong He's hit, Food Of Love, both dealing with food) because there's Raymond Lam (good actor, nice looking, really like him), Kevin Cheng (ok actor, devilishly good looking, very very like him), Tavia (pretty, very good actress), Charmaine (very pretty, can act but since girls will stare at Kevin irrespective of his acting skills, it is only fair guys have their share too so stare away but tune off the acting skills detector) AND my most anticipated person, Shaun Chen (devilishly good looking, persona a bit like Raymond but not as serious and looks wise can play Kevin's brother, and I heard Kevin's is 35, so that makes Kevin teh big brother and how these people can look so darn good?! and surprise surprise, he can really act, if you can ignore some weak spots and I can...).

TVB is now officially a teen idol station.

Shaun Chen in the flesh, sort of ...

I must say Wuchang finds the most interesting websites which are free, fun and FREE.

He created this little effect, I won't tell you what it is but you just go HERE, stare at the picture, wait for it to load and then see what I mean. Try to click the play button also. It may freak you out for a second but after a while you will marvel at the technology.

Oh yeah, you need the latest INTERNET EXPLORER to view it. If you can't see anything, check the following:-

1. you're using Internet Explorer
2. And Wuchang's tip ...

"Go to IE's Tools >> Internet Options

Then go to the Advanced Tab, scroll down until you see Microsoft VM.

Check the option JIT compiler for virtual machine enabled [requires restart]

Restart IE. Then see if you can view the page."

3. If still nothing, you will need to download the following file:-

J2SE v 1.4.2_06 JRE at

http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/download.html, choose the file which says DOWNLOAD J2SE JRE, then make sure you agree to the terms, then scroll to Windows Platform and click on the one where the file size is 1.35MB. The whole file is I think below 8MB. Once the download is finished, restart your IE, go back to that page I indicated above and just wait.

AND then come back here and tell me what you think of this very interesting technology and also if you created some yourself, post them here as well!!

By the way my computer is Pentium II but that card loads fine, though a bit slow. So I am sure yours can handle this thing.

Wong Jim's Death
Permanent link Post a Comment 3 comments

"November 24th, 2004: James Wong Jim, "The Devilish Genius", died at
12:46 am HKT this morning from lung cancer. He was 64. According to HK
media reports, Wong was diagnosed with lung cancer in March. Over the
summer, the cancer spread. On Saturday, Wong was rushed to Queen Mary
Hospital for treatment. Once his condition was stabilized, he was
transferred to Union Hospital in the Shatin district where he died early
this morning. As whispers of Wong's death spread and reporters flocked
to Union Hospital, a press conference was arranged for 2:30 am. With
Wong's doctors and his older son in attendance, an official announcement
about Wong's death was made.

Wong, a music progidy, began his entertainment circle career in the
1960s and wrote the lyrics for over 1000 songs. His most popular songs
were the theme songs for TVB series such as THE BUND (SHANGHAI TAN) and
the LEGEND OF THE CONDOR HEROES as well as the theme song for the Sam
Hui Kwoon-Kit movie THE SWORDSMAN. Nicknamed "The Devilish Genius", Wong
was a monstrous talent. Not only was he a lyricist, he was a composer,
an advertising jingle writer, a director, a writer, a television host,
an actor and an author. In later years, he became widely known as "Uncle
Jim" as his works became ingrained into Hong Kong society."

I didn't know! I was watching Jade Starbiz tonight where they announced he just died and I was WHAT?! So shocking. He didn't even look sick and was very jovial and happy. So many deaths. But I do think he went with dignity, preferring not to scare his friends and died quietly. And he was only 64. So sudden to me. So sudden.

I didn't write this?!

Da Zhai Men
Permanent link Post a Comment 0 comments

I hope I got the title right. When I was watching Jade Starbiz everybody was buzzing about who will play what role in the HK version of Da Zhai Men. Even Sheren was speculating, kevin Cheng (and he is Sheren's boyfriend?!) was also speculating.

Interesting. I watched this series, it spans 3 generations, beginning from I think (so long ago) rags to riches stern father, who fathered a few sons, one of whom is very weak BUT marries a very dutiful and cunning wife who actually later takes on the role of managing the business and household (this is a very crucial role in the series) who gives birth to a casanova son who romances some poor girl whilst running the business I think. 3 major roles are the father, the daughter in law and her son, the daughter in law being the central figure. Who can play them?

Hmmmmmmmmmm ....

I want to see Shaun as the casanova son (because in the original version the actor was sorry to say really really ugly). The daughter in law was played by a celebrated Chinese actress so whoever plays her must be able to age, change from docile to determined and can really really act. So that rules out MANY people. I personally like to see a second liner in this role. The father is a bit tricky, because from young to old.

I don't know. What do you think?

Fashion Mishaps
Permanent link Post a Comment 2 comments

All these for many reasons ...

Kenix Kwok

Too much of everything. I mean without the flower maybe but with it she looks more like those bag ladies wandering on the street and PLUS that jewelry and hair, too much. No taste!

Leila Tong

I think the one next to her is Tavia and both are fashion casuallties, I need not elaborate.

Shirley

Is this her chosen outfit or some performance dress? Is she going for cute ballerina type or what? Awful!

Gigi

I understand the simplicity because she probably wants to bring out and focus more on that necklace and all. BUT devoid of elegance and class, just nice, and compared to the above, a bit better.

Sonija

She looks old, her dress looks outdated and her entire ensemble look looks tired. Bad.

Bernice

She has the prettiest smile but last yeat her kimono-ish dress was better. This one one word can describe her look; frump. And this dress makes her look fat when she is not.

Michelle

Nice colour, her hairstyle very 30 ish like old film star, she is trying to create the classic elegant star look of the yesteryear, and she could have done just that but I find her dress a tad too desperate for publicity. So she looks not classy though I am sure that is her intended effect, foxy, sexy and classy. Sexy maybe, not classy.

Charmaine

She is one of those I saw 3 pictures with 3 different gowns, I assume all by her? It is better than her last year shiny curtain dress which was awful but this one is too too much. Charmaine doesn't know simplicity when dressing for function, already the neckline is obstructing her beautiful but over elaborate necklace, the entire thing just looks clumsy. She should have opted for a simple off shoulder black dress to compliment that necklace.

Ah this is a nice one. But I reserve my judgement as I could not see the bottom half. But her dress looks simple, yet striking, the problem is jer choice of jewelry and her make up, all too much.

I remember seeing one picture of her with purple fake fur and a tiara. That was the worst.

I now know what is wrong with Charmaine's dress sense. She likes big chunky jewelries, the older style the better but sometimes it clashes with her choice of clothing and her too red a cheeks. In fact big jewelries kinda make her nose even bigger and already it is huge! One thing good though she has yet to go for cosmetic surgery about her nose but that can be fixed by simply gaining weight. And you know, apart from her eyes, her best asset is actually her tiny waist. Not many have those what? 21 or 23 inches waist and she has it. She has this hourglass figure when she was a bit bigger sized than now, and even now men are crazy about her because she exudes femininity and her tiny tiny waist. But I notice in all pictures where she chooses her own wardrobe, she HIDES her waist. WHY? She should wear something that shows off her waist, not the skin but the shape! Someone must tell her that.

Anyway I am sure the best dressed ones must be Jessica, Maggie (she looks fantastic last year) but i stand corrected. I haven't found their photos yet. But I do know fur is in and though fake fur this is bad. No taste at all.

TVB Series Coming To ASTRO
Permanent link Post a Comment 3 comments

Oh yes, in December alone, 3 new series such as

Triumph In The Skies
Not Just A Pretty Face
Armed Reaction (is it IV now?)

Out of these 3 I really wish for once TVB just finish off the Armed Reaction sequel. In this one Frankie Lam will come between the always unlucky in love but seems to have a new girlfriend every instalment excpet for the first two, Bobby Au Yeung and Ada. I mean get over it, kill them all off please! So not looking forward to this.

Not Just A Pretty Face maybe for Roger Kwok but I looked at the trailer and I was like bored.

Ok, Triump In The Skies, just to see Francis Ng passionately devouring Flora's lips, poor girl and his awful hairstyle. Nothing original about this series, which is basically a love story set amongst flight attendants and pilots. I think i'll watch this one and do an Episodic Thoughts on this.

Your recommendation?

Anyone got any reviews for me?

Winners at the TVB Annivesary
Permanent link Post a Comment 2 comments

Didn't even know it was over! From what I gathered ...

My Favourite Male Lead: Bowie Lam (War and Beauty)

My Favourite Female Lead: Gigi Lai (War and Beauty)

My Favourite Ensemble (drama): Dayo Wong & Ada Choi (To Catch the Uncatchable)

My Favourite Ensemble (non-drama): Eric Tsang, Chin Ka Lok & Jerry Lamb (Super Trio Show Returns)

My Favourite Most Improved Male Artiste: Ron Ng (Twin of Brothers)

My Favourite Most Improved Female Artiste: Shirley Yeung (Angels of Mission)

My Favourite Extraordinary Male Artiste: Chan Hung Lit (War and Beauty)

My Favourite Extraordinary Female Artistes: Sheren Tang (War and Beauty)

Special award for Outstanding Achievement: Leung Shun Yin

Ron Ng and Shirley Yeung? I read somewhere Leila was also nominated but Shirley Yeung, the robot who has no timing whatsoever? Most improved from which standard? From really bad to mediocre? That is a big leap and if so she deserves the win!

Gigi Lai over Sheren Tang? I saw Some of War And Beauty and Gigi Lai again had that overacting thingy though frankly she has improved. Of course Charmaine could never win, she should consider moving herself to Most Improved. BUT Sheren won for what? Veteran award? So what TVB is saying is Gigi, you win by popular votes because you're popular but Sheren, you just won the award based on your extraordinary acting skills?!

What is the difference between the most fave female lead and most favourite extraordinary artiste? Why can't they have best supporting actress or actor instead?

And Ron Ng? I mean he was weak in Find The Light, has he improved all THAT much. Again from what standard?

Shirley Yeung? I am still in utter disbelief.Shirley Yeung most improved? Who else is in her category?

And why is Gigi Lai wearing fur? Is that real fur? If it is fake, good but if it is real, what is that? Oh come on....

As it is this award thing is losing credibility and now ...I amtotally speechless. TVB, bring back the celebrations, just cut the meaningless awards.

Shaun Chen's Hometown
Permanent link Post a Comment 0 comments

I was informed at SPCNET Forums someone posted in my website that Shaun is from Seremban, and I think it must have been posted in the Shout Box. As you can see, the shout box aka tag-board.com must be experiencing some big problems these past 2 days because that bloody board won't load. So I was wondering if you're that person posting that info in that shout box, kindly post it again under this post by Post a comment. I have to read it with my own eyes to believe it.

Thanks!

By the way Changing Lanes is ending this Friday, rumour has it it will be a tragic ending. Do catch it.

Esther Kwan & Guo Liang
Permanent link Post a Comment 0 comments

I stumbled across these two pictures which I thought were very playful looking and Esther looked not a day older than perhaps 35, or even lesser. Of course thanks to the wonders of make up, good complexion and lots of birds' nest, but really she looks really good. My question now is how come this Youmag promotes Power of Love with a detailed interview with these three (I can't read chinese but that article looks long) and yet zero when it comes to Changing Lanes' stars, Ann Kok and Shaun Chen?

Anyway, the original source link if HERE and the two pics are as follows:-

Malaysian Idol Season 1
Permanent link Post a Comment 2 comments

I saw a repeat yesterday night on Ch 18 ASTRO (which is Ch 8 actually) and I must say we Malaysians are one rude bunch. And that includes judges. It was already rude to question ones choice of wardrobe as Roslan said to one poor girl who really can't sing, then we have Paul Moss telling one girl who did a pitch perfect rendition of Aqua's Barbie Girl complete with dancing moves and all that she is an embarrasment, but never mentioned to what, they even allowed one guy who failed the audition just moments ago to go through because he sang in Malay this time (and he was much better the second time) rather than in English in the first horrible audition when they shouldn't do that at all! Then we have Paul Moss telling one vertically challended lady who spoke with a lisp that her pronunciation is horrible (like what you expect Mr Moss? She spoke with a lisp) but I still can't get over him telling that Aqua girl she is an embarrassment. I was thinking, you should never say that. A bad singer isn't an embarrassment and to what? In fact I admire her, as I admired all those who bravely went to audition only to be insulted in a very personal manner by one judge who was too fierce looking and critical as well, the other a gwailo who just seems to enjoy putting people down and a lady who well, keeps saying no when the guys say no. I see no constructive criticisms at all and I wonder at their choices. But them the rightful winner won, which I wonder can she participate at all since she had an album, albeit a self produced album?

Anyway, the more I saw the show, the more I realised, many people think they can sing when they can't, criticisms are harsh but I wonder, why one must put down people when harsh? Just say "Man, you can't sing!" rather than "Man, you're an embarrassment...".

And we are so worked up over going to World Idol which all other idols cared little for because it brings nothing, no meaning. I saw the first World Idol and these people who stood there to be judged, these people had successful concerts, produced good albums and are established in their own right. Shouldn't , what's her name? Jaclyn? Shouldn't we emphasise more on her forthcoming album, hot to market it instead of trying to win a worthless title?

That time of year again!
Permanent link Post a Comment 0 comments

Has it been one year since Maggie Cheung was criticised for daring to snigger when Charmaine was pleading her case why she should win Most Favourite Actress? Wow, another year.

Saw last year's celebrations on TV. The awards dominated the celebrations, and it became an award show, not a celebration show which is ultra boring. I want the old format back! I thought the one where Sek Sau played basketball was very imaginative but most of the routines are too amteurish. I must complain the following:-

1. not enough time for artistes to practice made them look like complete fools when they shouldn't be. TVB should give them more time.

2. famous faces had little to do, like all Charmaine did was walk around, wave a little and smile a lot. Give them more things to do, what happened to the old formats, where put the actors to act out sketches, and I mean more organised sketches. I thought Eric Tsang's shuttle sketch was quite funny, because I never expected they were upside down or sideways to be more precise.

3. scrap off those pretentious fashion shows which serves no purpose but to remind all better actresses and actors in TVB they're not famous enough to be in it, and Sonija Kwok should not be in it.

4. Put back that fashion show years before which introduced Wong Hei to the world, with him wearing his current most famous character's costume.

5. Get better judges. Suet Lei as a presenter for what award was that? I was laughing so hard because she is one horrible actress.

6. Never make Francis Ng sit at the nominees' gallery because he was sulking, really sulking. He had this look like I don't need this, I won far more credible awards.

7. Scrap off that Best Veteran Actor/Actress award because it makes those who won for Most Favourite Actor/Actress look like they won because of popularity. The only credible wins that year and the year before was for Most Improved Artiste. If Shirley Yeung wins this year, I will conclude, pointless award.

8. Why don't they just make a proper awards show for 2 hours, complete with scenes, proper presenters and a nicer award rather like this where they rush rush and rush?

9. why are the men wearing furs, albeit fake furs?

10. why is the venue so small? Can't they use the one they used for Miss HK?

Hopefully this year will be better. And a magazine for your viewing pleasure ...

>>TVB Weekly<<

If where you stand indicates how important you are in TVB and that would include where your picture is in a magazine, then Ada Choi must be a favourite this year.

New review, that is TVB Survivors Law by me. If there is any mistake do inform me. I posted this review in a rush, didn't quite check it. Very lazy and tedious to check.

Also constantly updating The DDGs > Shaun Chen with media files and my comments. Also got some comments by fans as well.

Updated Shaunsation with Profile, pictures, filmography and a reconstruction of the series Power of Love, episode per episode with some comments by me. I have also added the same link in Reviews > Singapore and also added The DDGs link under website.

http://shaunchen.theddgs.point2e.com

Fans of Shaun, do please write your thoughts about him in Fans Speak. It's pretty empty and bare, very sad.

I must say reconstructing Power of Love with Wuchang's captures were very tedious. It is very tiring as I had to upload one pic at a time, make sure they're in sequence. Why am I doing this? Because I KNOW somewhere out there, there are those like I who liked Shaun but never got to see this series who depends on Wuchang's screencaptures to 'watch" the series and believe me, the captures are all so detailed, you will basically know the beginning, the middle and the end. Guess what? I also added some comments found all at SPCNET Forums so that you won't miss a thing. I may have mistakes so do correct me if I am wrong. Fans of Esther Kwan may want to check them out since she is the lead in this series.

Anyway I repeat click Post a comment, if posting anonymously please add your name somewhere in your post. Please click publish post once as multiple clicking will have multiple posts.

By the way RIP Yasser Arafat.

And I repeat THE INCREDIBLES is AWESOME! Move over Shark Tale, the most unimaginative storyline about fish who doesn't look nor live in an environment remotely like fist. FINDING NEMO RULES!

Happy News (Shaun Chen)

And there is life in his career just yet! Thanks to None who said he will be in Yummy Yummy and voila! Saw the K-100 clip and that's him, very first, in perfect cantonese! I have always predicted he must be in TVB, of course this is not really a 100% TVB contract for our guy because well he's second fiddle to big names like Raymond Lam and Charmaine Sheh. Probably he's playing the villain but who cares? This is exposure and believe me he has enough X-factor to stand out in the crowd. I mean move over Raymond (sorry Ben I love you but I love Shaun more!). This is a stepping stone, hopefully to better things! Check out the video, he's the first to be interviewed ...

Updated my Yi Xin Ren thread.

I have been getting a few mails of people complaining they registered but could not post in SPCNET Forums. Maybe this is the problem ....

When you registered, you will receive a confirmation email at the email addy you provided. Until and unless you click that email (there's a link in there) you can never ever post a comment but you can just view them. Check if this is the problem. If not, then the best is to contact SC, the site owner. But I think it's just a matter of clicking that link.If you don't get the mail, request for it again until you get it. Make sure your email addy is a valid one.

Once done, I hope to see you at that thread. I am posting there more than here!

Yep, a good one, a first one, a fan site dedicated to and comprising 100% of Shaun Chen by Jade at the following address ...

The Shaun Chen Fansite

Do have a look. As for my own, I have one planning. In fact I made the graphics already, commentaries done ... but very reluctant to put it up because it's all too silly. Remember my The DDGs? I never thought I want to give the commentaries inside this section a name but I can't help this one.

Like Charmaine Sheh, I have this name called This Is Charm which I absolutely love. Yue Ling is All About Yue Ling. Daniel Radcliffe is Just Daniel (I think-can't remember), Qiu Xinzhi was I think All About Qiu Xinzhi. Now I have a new one for Shaun. I know it's silly but I am going to give my one page of him an official title,

SHAUNSATION.

Wonderful name! Yeah!

Bush Wins Again!
Permanent link Post a Comment 0 comments

Shocking! I thought the whole of America (that is a majority of them) would vote for Kerry! What happened?

Good Good Good. Yeah!

And to Lola who posted the following ermm message in the shout box:-

"lala: funn stick to the hellholw u call malasyia"

For your info, Malaysia is a lovely country, not crime free, not very cheap, not very clean but still lovely. If hell is Malaysia, oh yes I am sticking to my country.

By the way, isn't it funny? I actually thought Kerry would win after all the negative stuff printed about Bush but well it seems a majority of Americans still believe in him him. Which means the media has been highlighting the ones who didn't. I read in the papers how one Kerry supporter said Americans who voted for Bush are still so ignorant. Funny, because then those who voted for Kerry were the most enlightened one? One Japanese guy said it best when he said Kerry didn't give a concrete direction. Which is true. He pinpointed what was wrong but never really offered a solution.

I just hope Bush concentrates on Osama Bin Laden now. Go get him!

Anyway I must applaud Sen. Kerry's grace in defeat. This was what was posted ...

"Campaign attorneys urged him to go to court in Ohio and challenge the methodology for counting provisional ballots, which officials there had said could take more than a week. But according to his campaign manager Mary Beth Cahill, Kerry studied the numbers and decided he did not want to put the country through a protracted legal battle like the one in 2000, when a recount saga in Florida kept the race in limbo for 36 days...Republicans were virtually unanimous in the view that, by graciously conceding Ohio and therefore the presidential election to Mr. Bush, the Massachusetts Democrat put national unity and love of country ahead of partisan politics and personal disappointment."

I definitely agree. A good man this Kerry.

Farenheit 9/11, Bush, Kerry and the war on terrorism
Permanent link Post a Comment 4 comments

I had the misfortune of watching this propomentary (propoganda + documentary) which was so sensationalised that I could scarcely believe it could win so many awards and yet be so not credible. I hated it and I walked out after just perhaps half an hour. The one thing that I feel one has a right to do is to criticise someone but with valid claims. This Michael Moore does none of that. In fact he distorted the truths somewhat. Of course Bush was lazy when he first began but to suggest he profited from Osama's escape from the American clutches and that he benefitted from the 911 tragedy is a travesty. That scene where he was informed of the tragedy and yet he proceeded with reading a book to the young ones in a class, that Moore narrated his stricken look was more about whether he can get away with this, whether he can profit from this, how he can explain blah blah blah. That was the scene that made me realise hate indeed cause total blindness. Look at Bush's face! He looked stricken, a sense of panic and in fact he looked troubled and we all know why! What did the world expected him to do? Tell the class he had to gon because 2 planes flew into the buildings and then cause panic to the little ones? That he can act immediately? He needed time to collect his thoughts. I am sure Kerry/Gore would have done the same. If he could just command straight away, this man is quite heartless. Even heart of steel Putin looked stricken when he heard what happened in Beslan. And there were many more that I'd rather not speak about. Oh ya, one I must say. The way Moore suggested, that Fox news was a fan of Bush. People can take side, I am sure CNN did too. And to suggest Bush winning through fictatious vote and rigging and corruption through ties with judges, father, friends in the electorate committee is an insult to the American voters who voted for Bush. Don't they exist too? Bush of course is connected, so was Kennedy and of course so is Kerry with his oh so rich wife. I find the accusations totally offensive and unfair. Bush may not have been the best president, he may not have been the most hard working, he may not even have been the smartest president, but I believe he tried and he wasn't a morally or legally corrupt person in every sense. Promote Kerry all you want, criticise Bush all you can, but never ever stoop so low as to suggest such nonsense.

I am not a Kerry fan, I am not a Bush fan, but I feel Bush has his goodness, and Kerry has his goodness though this man is still harping on "wrong law, wrong methods, wrong times" everything wrong. So what is right?

Place your votes wisely. You want to vote for Kerry? Then vote for him because you think he will do a better job. Not because you think the current president is a monkey which is what SNL is repeating almost every weekend, but very funny actually. Really as America laughs at Bush, I believe the world is laughing at America. I have no seen such disunity since ... I don't know since when.

Was Bush right to start a war? The world says no, US says no, people who were never in Iraq says no, some in Iraq say no but so far I have yet to hear from those who were raped by Saddam's son, families of tortured prisoners, etc say what they must say. Perhaps America should have waited for more people to die in Iraq, or perhaps America should not have bothered. The only reason why things are so messy there is not because America did what was considered wrong (morally and legally) but because the people there is not cooperating. Kidnapped hostages are not a reason to back away since so many have died and still they kidnapped more.

With this I want to end with two most ridiculous articles I have read in recent times.

One was a westerner journalist suggesting that life in Iraq before the war was not great but better than now because at least they had basic amenities. So what he meant I guess is we should all shut our eyes to minorities being slaughtered so that we can play bath every night with the water supply we had.

The other was a local Muslim girl who wrote to a newspaper in response to harsh criticisms about her religion and the role her religion played in terrorism today. I have great muslim friends but this girl is plain stupid when she said Saddam was less of a dictator than Bush whose soldiers had killed so many civilians, the number much higher than Saddam's track record. So if Iraq is such a great place to stay and Saddam such a great man, perhaps this lady might consider travelling there.

Sometimes hatred blind us from the truth, the very obvious truth. I don't care if there was WMD, I am sure the oppressed over there could sigh with relief.

As for Kerry's attack that why didn't Bush concentrate on Osama, one guy on the Oprah Winfrey show said it best when he said you can't schedule saving lives. Moreover we all know who knows where Osama is, just that we need these nations to cooperate. But they won't, because they pay lip service by saying we are anti terrorism but please don't ask us to do anything. Only Japan, Malaysia and we Asian countries dare to take up the challenge, even if some of our own hostages die. I may sound stupid by my rant here, but I just feel sometimes things aren't as simple as we would like to see it.

Could Mahatma Gandhi save the day? Why can't a great man like him live once again? What about Buddha? The world needs these two great beings.

The Good
I am constantly looking for nice pictures of artists I intend to include into my The DDGs and I finally found one which is absoluetly gorgeous from here, but I do not know the creator, just that it is a gorgeous wallpaper, very dream like. The other one is very glittery, like a star. Problem is can't find the main pictures which is very sad for me.

Anyway, have a look .. if you're wondering who she is, she is Charmaine Sheh. Click on the thumbnails for the full size.

The Bad
Some very interesting comments from HK artists who are Americans who has a lot of say but doesn't bother to register their voting rights to votes, so I would say less votes for Kerry?

Some really interesting ones that I totally disagree with ...

Maggie Chan:
I live in San Francisco, but I have not adopted citizenship, so I do not have the right to vote, but I am rooting for Kerry and have asked all my friends to vote for him because Bush does not care for other people's lives in going to war and has destroyed and broken many American families. Even though life in Iraq was not perfect, it has now been destroyed by his hand and he is the real dictator.

Going to war means he is a dictator? I don't see him dictating the voters to vote for him or else, OFF WITH THEIR HEADS!

Winnie Yeung:
Many people are tired of war and prefer peace. I do not like Bush's policies on war, so all my family in America will be voting for Kerry as they feel he is better. I am a US citizen, but I did not return to register this year and cannot vote.

Good! Kerry less one vote! I mean this is like waste of time to say you know ... I vote for you but I can't voter. How is he better?

Some very good ones ...

Melissa Ng:
Although I am too busy and cannot return to the states to vote, I have been paying a lot of attention to the debates between Bush and Kerry and I feel that Bush is ahead becuase he leans towards the Conservatives and is not a Democrat and this falls in line with the common American citizen's beliefs, so I think he will do well.

Actually I can't understand what she meant but I am sure she meant something.

Flora Chan:
The morale in Hong Kong is very low at the moment and I feel they need a new leader. I do not intend to vote though because I do not know the credentials or beliefs of the two candidates and I will not vote without consideration.

Ermmm but I thought we are talking about American presidents? What has it got to do with HK? But good point as in don't know who to vote so don't vorte. Bad philosophy but good logic.

Veronica Yip:
I don't think that Bush has done well, but I don't feel that Kerry is good either, so I would rather support Bush. I am not a citizen yet, but my husband is, so if he can make it in time to vote, he will vote for Bush.

This is like between the devil and the deep blue sea. Got logic, good point but in the end meaningless.

Pauline Wong:
I have not decided who I will vote for, but I will be heading back to the States in the next few days. If the timing is right, I will go and vote because this is a duty as a citizen.

Perhaps even check out the feng shui?

Pauline Yeung:
After I got married, I have lived in Las Vegas and although I do not have the right to vote yet, living over there means I am monitoring the situation. It doesn't matter who is the president as long as they don't go to war again and keep the world peaceful.

Good point. So she's voting for Kerry if she has a choice.

The best quote?

Maggie Q:
I have already voted in Hong Kong. Although I don't like either of the presidential candidates, I feel that voting is very important and I must do my duty as a citizen and whoever is elected will have a big impact on America and the rest of the world.

Great point. So do vote, your every vote counts.

(taken from http://tvbspacenews.blogspot.com/)

The Ugly
Unfortunately, this is not one of those gorgeous pics. Individually, Charmaine is pretty (albeit too thin), Sammul is good looking (albeit too much tan cream) and Bosco is very handsome (albeit too much lip gloss). Put together, you have one big sister with her lbrother and her nephew. She should be paired with someone closer or older than her age. By the way she will be starring in a co-production called Yummy Yummy with some Singaporean actors (MediaWorks). Guess WHO'S NOT IN THIS SERIES?

Bio
Shaun possesses extraordinary flair, evident even during his student times and was then already a model for various clothing brands. He graced the cover of countless magazines and was sought after by established brands like Colgate and SunSilk to be their advertisement spokesperson.

The year 2002 saw Maxis, the leading telco provider in Malaysia, handpicking him from hundreds of model hopefuls to be their sole product ambassador. Following the release of these mega scale Maxis advertisements, Shaun's popularity reached an all time high. He was the preferred choice for endorsement deals and everyone wanted to have a piece of this intriguing new star.

Mediacorp Singapore then took notice of this bright young man. Without any hesitation, they extended a warm invitation to Shaun, hoping to develop his acting career together. Shaun immediately accepted the offer, for he had a burning desire to be an actor since young.

The handsome looks and beguiling charm was an indicator - Audience will definitely fall in love with him! Producers noted that down and immediately found a minor role for him in True Heroes. Shaun plays a chauvinistic entrepreneur, Zhang HanLiang, sharing screen time with another MCS actress, Phyllis Quek.

He made a commendable effort despite being totally new to acting. The drama showcased Shaun's acting potential, something that would only improve even more in the days to come.

Besides acting, aspiring Shaun also hemmed the wildly popular City Beat together with Jeff Wang and Sharon Au, both heavyweight hosts in their own right. Not paling in comparison, he displayed amazing talent with his quick wit on the live show.

Shaun can sing and he has a good voice. Once again, cementing the fact that he is our new generation, all-rounded artiste.

Ann was commenting on Chen Hongyu, her co-star, on those scenes where they
Act as a couple. She find him a litte uptight during those scenes (becos Mr
Chen was rumoured to be accused of taking advantage of another actress when he was Filming Holland V, thats why.....) Asked if she did anything to help him relax, she said:"Yes I did, I kept telling him as long as it is within the director's request, it's not a problem." Ann also teased him about the lady luck he gets in the show, having "relations" with almost all the young actresses in the cast.
