Recommended Review Permanent link ▫ ▫
I would like to recommend my own review of Golden Faith because well, it's one of my better ones.
"This series is a gem in the performances ... How many times have we been shoved with plots like big brother and older brother fighting over a woman, power struggle, rich family, action sequences, assasinations, devilish plot, unrequited love, etc etc etc. Just watching At The Threshold of an Era which comes with 100 episodes would have quenched your thirst for such a plot. The first episode of this series was really bad, but once the entire cast settled in and there is no longer any focus on Jessica and Jessica alone, the plot that ensued is like a mix between the Godfather, 12 Angry Men and of course ATE."

By the way the poster in Golden Faith review is taken from SPCNET. Can't find the actual poster so no choice, had to take from SPCNET.

In The Realm of Fancy by Funn Lim
Golden Faith by Funn Lim
Golden Faith by Bridget Au
Both reviews of Golden Faith came to the same conclusion but the reasonings are very very different. Do have a read.
Added some of my older reviews into the database as well.
You can now post your feedback within the review itself, Just scroll to the bottom of the review. You do not need to register to post comments.
Any problems just email me at point2e@myjaring.net
Calling all submissions of reviews and requests for reviews of stories. Pretty free now.
Updates Permanent link ▫ ▫
I have added some old reviews of mine which I believe could be found in my now former host, henceforth deleted lar! I hope you enjoy reading them. I have also updated the notices in the reviews page. Also if you notice some links are like cannot be clicked, it's because those are coming soon.
Just a teaser as to what to expect these coming week;
More TVB reviews by Bridget Au (Golden Faith) and me also on newer series (but not the latest though) like Golden Faith, Love And Again, In The Realm Of Fancy (interesting, very hard to find this series' review, none in SPCNET), Burning Flame II (my long overdue review) and some older reviews.
Also due to the layout of Wordpress, I have decided to cut off very long reviews of mine into two parts; one for Review itself and the other facts and all which I call Extras. So for my Doomed to Oblivion review, all facts, pictures, and all will be in Extras. The link will be easy to find.
Also I am quite surprised nobody ever comment about any of the review here. I think you do not need to register to comment so feel free to give feedback. Just a reminder, scroll to the bottom of the review to comment. Also for Pictorabilia (my gallery website) you also do not need to register to view, download, comment on pictures but you can't upload lar!
I am ready for-
1. Submissions of reviews, stories
2. Er, reviewing stories if anybody is interested in me doing so. I was only joking about the pledge thing.
Thank you and hey, why so quiet? Drop me a note!

The Storytellers Permanent link ▫ ▫
After much thought I have decided to chuck This Is Charm (and restrict it solely for comments and wallpapers until further notice) because I want to concentrate on reviews (that is this site) and The Storytellers.
Can you still remember The Storytellers? After much thought I want to reopen my stories site and I want to post my stories and my friend's stories. I am ready for any criticism. Nobody said a good reviewer must be a good storyteller! I also want to reopen the reviews section for stories within The Storytellers. The problems before are as follows:-
1. unfinished stories
2. no time
So now I have decided to post only finished stories (fan fics will definitely be the least of the submissions because let's face it, you write as you go along) unless you can assure me a new chapter each week, like a weekly publication type of system. I want to review stories again and you know to my horror, I went to this website which I can't remember where and I read the rules. To be a reviewer there I must at least have one fan fic published. Now that is scary because I never written any fan fic before which made me think that I am rather unqualified. But I learn from your weaknesses (ok, no shooting let me explain). I learn as you learn so I thought since I am very good at analysing something (a trait all dragons have, making us all rather pompous but hey, I must admit, I am good at destorying stuff-am I Simon Cowell??) so I thought why not? So I thought why not start a queue for reviewing stories, one at a time so that I won't be like before. Now reviewing stories is not like submitting your stories to me. Your stories can be half way through (in fact the shorter the better so that I can read and finish and then review) and I can always follow up on the stories. I will not comment on the following:-
1. standard of English (unless you use the wrong words-I was pretty nasty in one review because the girl wrote appearing as apparition so I thought the character died and came back as a ghost or something)
2. grammar (I am worse),spelling (I understand the difficulty in proof reading so I will ignore that)
I will however concentrate on the following:-
1. the objective of your story and whether I can see your objective
2. your storytelling technique
3. the flow of your narration and the characters (I do not emphasise much on character development as in decription of their physical trait or past because I am one who believes description is unnecessary and more important is the flow of your character-what he's doing, what he wants to achieve, the focus point of your story"
4. review is done in accordance to the type of story, meaning scripts will of course make me concentrate more on the dialogue and all)
5. whether I can't stop reading your story.
The emphasise is on whether I enjoy reading your story. That's all. I am not concerned with the plot, unless it is so out of this world (fantasy stories will excuse such problem of course).
So if you would like me to review your story which must be published in the Internet and written by an amateur writer (come one! Stephen King is not going to ask me to review his book!). Give me the URL to your story, a brief description of your story (what is it about), how many chapters (whether completed or not) and that you pledge the following:-
"I will take any crappy statement from Funn and I swear never to hunt her down for her negative review and I shall not say 'why don't you write a story yourself' in defend of such negative review".
Send them all to point2e@myjaring.net and I will add it into the queue. Ermm, give me 2 to 4 weeks for the review to be completed because hey, I need to read your story, word for word. And yes, I will read.
I also want someone to review my stories in due time. Any volunteers? No need for any qualification whatsoever, as long as you love to read ALL types of stories and has an honest and objective opinion to share.
Thank you.

King Of Yesterday and Tomorrow by Adelyn Lim which was a wonderful read. A teaser for you ...
"You know what's incredible about this serial? It's the speed at which Tai Ha and Sei Leong managed to adapt to the modern world. It's not just a little unrealistic. It's totally unbelievable. No doubt Tai Ha was born an emperor and emperors were probably born with a better brain or something, but his adaptability skills are simply incredible. Let's take it from the start. Emperor Yung Cheng was living in an era 200 years before our time. That means no television, no mobile phones, no telephones and no democracy, whatsoever. How in the world can he learn to use so many things at once? He's an emperor. Not a god. Emperors are human too. Yung Cheng may possess limitless wisdom, which allows him to rise from a position of office boy to a manager, but to be able to handle office work before he even started working?? He spends the night reading a book or newspaper and he knows everything under the sun. Also, he could live like a normal person, which was alright if he wasn't the emperor. I mean, emperors were the sons of heaven, and he had lots of maids and eunuchs to serve him. How come he could survive as a poor Tai Ha??? Also, it's amazing how he can anticipate everything that Tina or Brian or Hugo or Frankie are going to do before hand. It's crazy!"

Better Halves written by Jules found in TVB section. An excerpt for your reading pleasure;
"Steven Ma’s performance actually was quite different from any other I’ve seen. As Chow Sai Hin in Perish in the Name of Love he was honorable, serious, the perfect guy so to speak, what he’s always played before. Ka Fok is totally different from anything I’ve seen Steven portrayed. He’s actually funny! He never once gave the impression that he was honest and upright but rather sneaky and witty. I quite enjoyed the character actually, he was fun to watch and had personality which was just so refreshing for Steven Ma. I’m not saying that he’s a dull person in real life, in fact I don’t think that’s true at all. I just think that in most of his series he’s tired of being Mr. Nice Guy all the time and I’m so glad there’s a change. Steven acting wise however was the same as in Perish in the Name of Love he didn’t improve or worsen. He’s an average actor but at times he still is too deliberate or to forced in his acting especially when he’s pouting or when he’s trying to use his hands to express something. Overall however, I enjoyed it when Steven was on screen. He was amusing and I liked his character’s personality. "

Ok, I am using Blogger again. I feel that my relationship with Blogger is like being with a boyfriend; love, hate, love, hate and then love again. Anyway I re-added some reviews in the TVB section. Do have a look. Take note that now you can post comments in the review itself. Just scroll down to the bottom. The Shout Box is for surveys only. Any feedback just email me or write it in the guestbook. I will only add new reviews when I am done updating the old versions into the new templates. But submissions are always welcomed.

First Review Test! Permanent link ▫ ▫
Help out a bit. This is a link to a newly added review, Better Halves by Jules. The difference is I posted it in my Wordpress blog. Please test it out, see if can post comments and all. It's quite a hassle to do them but I think the technologies driving wordpress is worth it all.
Ok something is seriously wrong with Blogger. What the heck is my message doing down there? If not for the archives, I chuck this thing away! Sorry for the mess.

Error notice in IE browser Permanent link ▫ ▫
Look at the bottom of your IE browser and if you see a ! that basically means something's wrong with the javascript (specifically Tagboard which is working fine). Ignore it. Remember to switch off your debudding script thingy at Tools> Internet Options > Advanced > Browsing > tick Disable Script Debugging. This will stop those pop up windows asking your to debug. Who cares as long as this whole thing works!
New layout! Permanent link ▫ ▫
New look, new server, old stuff. Thanks to the wonders of WordPress, you can now post your comments within the review itself (down below actually until I figure out how to make the pop up window for comments-do you know how?). There are plenty of new reviews I have been sitting on and more great stuff coming. Hoping to "see" you here often and do drop me a note when you're here (guestbook, email, comments, many ways).
