SELECTED POSTS
This page, NEWS & UPDATES which is
actually the index page of this website has
grown into a huge database of my almost
daily ramblings of all stuff I hold dear to
my heart, including gossips of the most
sordid kind. For your convenience, I have
posted a list of posts which I thought is
pretty informative in my own way that you
might find interesting. The list itself may
be long but those selected few are the ones
I thought drives home the point I wanted to
make. Do check them out in
MY POINT IS [Comments & Opinions].
SERIES' SUMMARIES
Sometime in 2004 I began
reviewing selected
series in an episode by
episode way, where I
called these reviews
EPISODIC THOUGHTS.
These thoughts are
mostly summaries of each
and every episode with
my opinion of that
episode included in it
as well. I may not
provide the most in
depth summaries but I am
very proud of the fact
that I could keep the
writing on such a long
winded basis each and
every night for the
entirety of the series.
I don't do this for each
and every series though
because it kills a lot
of brain cells, mine as
well as fellow netizens
who often joined in the
discussion by posting
informative stuff. These
thoughts are still open
for feedback and
discussion. Do check
them all out in
REVIEWS where it is
indicated with an

Malaysian Idol Season 1 Permanent link ▫ ▫
I saw a repeat yesterday night on Ch 18 ASTRO (which is Ch 8 actually) and I must say we Malaysians are one rude bunch. And that includes judges. It was already rude to question ones choice of wardrobe as Roslan said to one poor girl who really can't sing, then we have Paul Moss telling one girl who did a pitch perfect rendition of Aqua's Barbie Girl complete with dancing moves and all that she is an embarrasment, but never mentioned to what, they even allowed one guy who failed the audition just moments ago to go through because he sang in Malay this time (and he was much better the second time) rather than in English in the first horrible audition when they shouldn't do that at all! Then we have Paul Moss telling one vertically challended lady who spoke with a lisp that her pronunciation is horrible (like what you expect Mr Moss? She spoke with a lisp) but I still can't get over him telling that Aqua girl she is an embarrassment. I was thinking, you should never say that. A bad singer isn't an embarrassment and to what? In fact I admire her, as I admired all those who bravely went to audition only to be insulted in a very personal manner by one judge who was too fierce looking and critical as well, the other a gwailo who just seems to enjoy putting people down and a lady who well, keeps saying no when the guys say no. I see no constructive criticisms at all and I wonder at their choices. But them the rightful winner won, which I wonder can she participate at all since she had an album, albeit a self produced album?
Anyway, the more I saw the show, the more I realised, many people think they can sing when they can't, criticisms are harsh but I wonder, why one must put down people when harsh? Just say "Man, you can't sing!" rather than "Man, you're an embarrassment...".
And we are so worked up over going to World Idol which all other idols cared little for because it brings nothing, no meaning. I saw the first World Idol and these people who stood there to be judged, these people had successful concerts, produced good albums and are established in their own right. Shouldn't , what's her name? Jaclyn? Shouldn't we emphasise more on her forthcoming album, hot to market it instead of trying to win a worthless title?

If you have kept watching. Your perception of Paul Moss will certainly change. I like Roslan better during the audition, but as I see more of the show I began to like Paul more and more. Most of the constructive comment came from Paul.
I don't agree with everything Paul said (like that Barbie girl which I think is not that bad), but he is a frank person (that's how the producer of MI describe him). He says what he thinks and he even admit it and call himself an idiot when he realise that he had given a wrong judgement to a contestant.
Honestly, Paul is no more ruder than Simon Cowell who call people the worse singer in the world/US and refuse to let someone pass because he is fat. Both are frank people.
BTW, the Malaysian Idol judges look like angels compared to the Singapore Idol judges. They are sarcastic and hurtful beyond believe. But it seem they toned down after the audition and theather elimination and actually give some constructive comment.

It's perfectly alright to be honest, I expect them to be honest but i don't expect malicious remarks. I kept thinking what Roslan said to the girl who san an off key version of Alicia Keys .. that girl came with the props and Roslan said "Well, that's what she wears everyday". This man is passing judgment on unecessary things! At least that girl came prepared image wise!
I dislike their personal comments. These are not evaluations, these are attacks. It is not different than calling someone fat and therefore un star worthy.
