SELECTED POSTS
This page, NEWS & UPDATES which is
actually the index page of this website has
grown into a huge database of my almost
daily ramblings of all stuff I hold dear to

sordid kind. For your convenience, I have

SERIES' SUMMARIES
Sometime in 2004 I began
reviewing selected
series in an episode by
episode way, where I
called these reviews
EPISODIC THOUGHTS.
These thoughts are
mostly summaries of each
and every episode with
my opinion of that
episode included in it
as well. I may not
provide the most in
depth summaries but I am
very proud of the fact
that I could keep the
writing on such a long
winded basis each and
every night for the
entirety of the series.
I don't do this for each
and every series though
because it kills a lot
of brain cells, mine as
well as fellow netizens
who often joined in the
discussion by posting
informative stuff. These
thoughts are still open
for feedback and
discussion. Do check

Winners at the TVB Annivesary

My Favourite Male Lead: Bowie Lam (War and Beauty)
My Favourite Female Lead: Gigi Lai (War and Beauty)
My Favourite Ensemble (drama): Dayo Wong & Ada Choi (To Catch the Uncatchable)
My Favourite Ensemble (non-drama): Eric Tsang, Chin Ka Lok & Jerry Lamb (Super Trio Show Returns)
My Favourite Most Improved Male Artiste: Ron Ng (Twin of Brothers)
My Favourite Most Improved Female Artiste: Shirley Yeung (Angels of Mission)

Special award for Outstanding Achievement: Leung Shun Yin
Ron Ng and Shirley Yeung? I read somewhere Leila was also nominated but Shirley Yeung, the robot who has no timing whatsoever? Most improved from which standard? From really bad to mediocre? That is a big leap and if so she deserves the win!
Gigi Lai over Sheren Tang? I saw Some of War And Beauty and Gigi Lai again had that overacting thingy though frankly she has improved. Of course Charmaine could never win, she should consider moving herself to Most Improved. BUT Sheren won for what? Veteran award? So what TVB is saying is Gigi, you win by popular votes because you're popular but Sheren, you just won the award based on your extraordinary acting skills?!
What is the difference between the most fave female lead and most favourite extraordinary artiste? Why can't they have best supporting actress or actor instead?
And Ron Ng? I mean he was weak in Find The Light, has he improved all THAT much. Again from what standard?
Shirley Yeung? I am still in utter disbelief.Shirley Yeung most improved? Who else is in her category?
And why is Gigi Lai wearing fur? Is that real fur? If it is fake, good but if it is real, what is that? Oh come on....
As it is this award thing is losing credibility and now ...I amtotally speechless. TVB, bring back the celebrations, just cut the meaningless awards.

Yeah, Gigi Lai overact a lot in WAB. Really a lot. Never saw her overact so much before (but then I didn't many of the series, Just Fate Twister and Doomed To Oblivion and some movies). I actually felt Charmaine surpass her in acting this time around. Well, some newspaper reported that TVB gave Gigi the award as a reward for her signing a long contract and that Gigi use the award as a condition to signing the contract. I dunno whether it is true or not. These entertainment newspaper are really not that trustworthy.See here: http://forums.cinple.net/newtvb/index.cgi?read=208053
Too bad Maggie Cheung didn't get any award. She did a very good with the character On Sin. Certainly deserve a spot in the top 5 Fav Actress or at least top 10 Fav character. Her performance is only second to Sheren's.
Bowie really do deserve the award base on his performance in WAB which is also very good.
As for Ron. No, Ron hasn't improve at all. Not even a little bit. I actually think he did a better job in FTL and TITS. He is ok during normal light-hearted scenes, but when a scene requires him to show some emotion, he totally failed. His face is just blank.
Ron totally does not deserve this award. This award should go to Kevin Cheng who actually showed mark improvement in his acting. If they want to give to a new star, they should give to Bosco. Eventhough Bosco's improvement isn't that much either, he at least can act better than Ron. I like Ron and feel that he has what it's takes to be a leading man in the future, but he really doesn't deserve this award for now.
On the other hand, Shirley did show some improvement in her performance in AOM. But her performance is still weak compared to the other norminees which include Leila Tong, Claire Yiu, Nancy Wu, Mimi Lo, Sherming Yiu, Bernice Lui, Sonija Kwok, Akina Hong, Fiona Yeun, Au Sin Yi, Michelle Ye etc.
But then, even though some of the nominees like Sherming Yiu and Akina Hong are really good actresses, their improvement isn't much. So, I dunno. But I feel that Claire Yiu or Nancy Wu should get the award. Sonija should get the award if it is for Hidden Treasure, but he is nominated for AOM, where her improvement is not that much.

I totally agree with you kidd, either Kevin or Bosco should have won the "most improved" award.
I wonder why they even bother to have this award. It seems like a joke, so unorganized and unprofessional. This is the first time I've actually paid attention to this award thing but I don't think I would care for it in the following years. Very meaningless since they don't choose winners based on performance. I don't think it's even an honor to win such a pointless award. I don't get the "extraordinary" and "favorite lead" award either. And I agree that they should also have a "supporting actor/actress" category.
