SELECTED POSTS
This page, NEWS & UPDATES which is

SERIES' SUMMARIES
Sometime in 2004 I began
reviewing selected
series in an episode by
episode way, where I
called these reviews
EPISODIC THOUGHTS.
These thoughts are
mostly summaries of each
and every episode with
my opinion of that
episode included in it
as well. I may not
provide the most in
depth summaries but I am
very proud of the fact
that I could keep the
writing on such a long
winded basis each and
every night for the
entirety of the series.
I don't do this for each
and every series though
because it kills a lot
of brain cells, mine as
well as fellow netizens
who often joined in the
discussion by posting
informative stuff. These
thoughts are still open
for feedback and
discussion. Do check

She might not have the grace of Anne Heung (one of the most graceful and elegent actress in TVB), but in terms of look, she is definitely better than Anne Heung and Charmaine Sheh and even Ada Choi.
I agree that she still lacks the acting skill to play this difficult role. But in terms of look, yes she is suitable. If Anne can play women that ruin kingdoms and topple empires, so can Sonija.
And I didn't say Anne was good either, nor did I even say Ada Choi or even Charmaine Sheh.
Come to think of it, all of them are too old. It's time TVB should hold auditions and give younger actresses a chance. Sonija Kwok is simply wrong for this role.
But one she starts moving or talking or even worse, dancing (shudder, rememebr PITNOL?), she will ruin it.
Sonija's voice is pretty monotonous, and very unexpressive without overacting. They is simply no depth in the way she talks!
Her way of talking is also very modern and fast, she doesn't know when to pause and what pitch to use on certain words (probably due to overseas education).
Xi Shi has angina, and Sonija's previous expressions of pain have been horrible and over-expressed. And she can't yell without sounding like she is crazy.
There is no way she can dance better than my goldfish, she is stiff and her turns are not elegant.
My point is, she is not well-suited for ancient series, not to mention one of the 4 beauties of China. She is much better in modern series (e.g. The Last Breakthrough).
As for the other cast, maybe Damian will play the King of Yue, and no doubt, his performance will be great (can't wait to watch his expression when he has to eat Joe's stool). :D
Joe, like Sonija, has a very modern way of talking, but I think he will fare better than Sonija. About being a pervert king, he never got close but he should be OK.
I might watch it for the storyline if it is is good and not over-romantic, but if it is, I'm skipping this for sure.
I think a Mainland or Taiwanese actress will fare better in Xi Shi's role.
I would have prefer someone much younger to play Xishi.
By the way,it was a mainland china production, not TVB. TVB just lend some artistes to them.
One bad news- Sonija willhave A LOT of dancing scenes in the series.

I have one pic of him in my blog, but that pic doesn't do him justice
slightly popping out eyes...i really can't stand her ugly mouth (it's kinda crooked in a way)not too sure about how to describe her mouth (when she smiles or talks make it worse)...old (i can't stand the zoom ins of her face. her skin is really ugly). basically that's a summary of her. not sure about her body though...

Sonija is an automaton, someone who does something automatically without much thought or feelings. But you're right about her.
