YOUR Q's FOR MY A's

SELECTED POSTS

This page, NEWS & UPDATES which is actually the index page of this website has grown into a huge database of my almost daily ramblings of all stuff I hold dear to my heart, including gossips of the most sordid kind. For your convenience, I have posted a list of posts which I thought is pretty informative in my own way that you might find interesting. The list itself may be long but those selected few are the ones I thought drives home the point I wanted to make. Do check them out in MY POINT IS [Comments & Opinions].

SERIES' SUMMARIES

Sometime in 2004 I began reviewing selected series in an episode by episode way, where I called these reviews EPISODIC THOUGHTS. These thoughts are mostly summaries of each and every episode with my opinion of that episode included in it as well. I may not provide the most in depth summaries but I am very proud of the fact that I could keep the writing on such a long winded basis each and every night for the entirety of the series. I don't do this for each and every series though because it kills a lot of brain cells, mine as well as fellow netizens who often joined in the discussion by posting informative stuff. These thoughts are still open for feedback and discussion. Do check them all out in REVIEWS where it is indicated with an  [E] next to my name.

OFFBEAT STUFF

There is this one section in here that features offbeat stuff that are not entertainment based. The section is known as FUNN STUFF [COMMENTS & OPINIONS].

PERSONAL FAVOURITES

There are 3 sections in here that contain my personal favourites of all kinds. THE DDGs [COMMENTS & OPINIONS] which features specially made websites by myself with info & all related stuff of my favourite stars or stars I like to talk about, MEDIA & MUSIC FILES [DOWNLOADS] which has my favourite VODs and music files, most of them are taken from Chinese & Korean dramas & movies and some of which I am hosting for my net friends and THE STORYTELLERS [WEBSITES], where you'll find stories written by amateur writers like you and I.

Do check them all out!

Live8
Permanent link Post a Comment

I stayed up until 3 am and stopped at Shakira. Anyone saw the Live8 in full?

Anyway I thought Keane was so bloody good! The lead singer also so cute! That black rapper rapping alone was very entertaining whilst Madonna was very interesting. Faith Hill had so much echo and was horrible, and I think it was a mistake to send her to where was it? Rome? Nobody cared!

But the worst until Shakira segment had to be Audioslave. Toneless, tuneless, liveless, and dying. Worst performance for me.

I was hoping to catch Coldplay, Maroon 5 and even The Darkness (wonder were they invited?) but saw Brad pitt giving a very emotional speech, the Beckhams (I bet Victoria Beckham would have done anything to sing on stage eh? Did she?).

Some clips were shown about starving children 20 years ago and it was very heart wrenching, but with a happy twist.

Anyway it was for a good cause. Should the G8 leaders write off the debts of these nations? Of course. Should it be unconditionally? Yes I would say so. And then it will be up to the leaders of these nations to rebuild their country. But I would bet the problems will still persist. The leaders must be changed I guess. Can you eradicate poverty? I doubt it. If a man has RM1 million and the rest of the world is having billions and inflation rate is extra high, wouldn't you view the one with 1 million living in poverty? Greed exists and as long as there is greed, nothing will change.

Hopefully the concert may change the world and give these nations a chance, at least a chance at something.

Anyway I am so into Jewel In The Palace now. I am in love with that what's his name? I don't even know his name. The guard? Real name should be Ji Jin Hee right? Or Jin Ji Hee? Ehhh so confused.

Writing off the debts may only just be the beginning. I do wonder if such concerts actually help in persuading politicians.

Jewel In The Palace seems to be the talk of the town. I think I must get my hands on the VCDs. It'll take forever for Singapore TV to show it. Especailly now that it's back to a monopoly.

Wuchang, I am shocked that S'pore has yet to show this series. In Malaysia it is now being repeated on channel 8tv as well as shown on ASTRO. Very shocked. How come so slow? You must get your hands on the VCDs and watch it in Korean and only then can the "acting" be appreciated or like everyone said, get the mandarin version is you really have to. Nobody worth drooling in there for guys except you know well..never mind.

Anyway it's not really a very logical series and it is slow at times but damn it, it's addictive you know.

And it is the talk of not just the town, but everywhere there is an Asian living there. And this series was like some time ago! Wuchang, one question for you if you read this.

When is Heartlander season 4 showing? How come no news at all? No websites? No pictures? Nothing?

Jewel In The Palace was shown on Singapore free-to-air TV at the same time as the first run on 8TV. Why I noticed this series was precisely because one day, when I checked the TV program schedules on both sides of the causeway, I saw the same show aired simultaneously (though maybe not the same episodes) in both countries. Knowing then that it must be hot, I checked 8TV out of curiousity to watch the Mandarin version.

Are you sure about that Nick?

SCV is now heavily promoting the "debut" of Jewel in Singapore. I doubt they will do that if it had already been shown on the free to air channels. Besides, for such popular shows, SCV always gets to air it first on its paid channels.

Funn, the official site of Heartlanders is up.

You're right about the lack of eye candy for guys in Jewel. LOL. Is this a first for Korean serials?

Wuchang, the answer to your question is no. Truth be told, not many Korean stars are actually drop dead gorgeous good looking. The girls look alike, the guys not very good looking. But the famous ones are tall, very well groomed and some, a few, very few can be considered very good looking. In Jewel, the Emperor is quite good looking but the hero, the guard is perhaps the most good looking but still his eyes are small and without the moustache he looks like typical korean guys, only better looking. I believe our Malaysian actors in Singapore are better looking but somehow, damn it these bona fide korean stars have star-like quality. Maybe because I really like this palace guard whose name I still do not know! The character I mean. Wuchang, you will be so very confused with all the girls in the series as well as they look alike except for the villains who looks thinner with less flesh on their face.

Wuchang, thanks for the link. For a moment I thought well this series was axed! I thought it's popular in Singapore?

Wuchang, 101% sure. My eyes couldn't play tricks on me for weeks on end. The papers only list the S'pore free-to-air channels' programs. Nothing from the pay TV side. It was only after many, many days of seeing both the names on both schedules that I decided to check out what the fuss was about. Otherwise, I would not even know there's a show by that name.

Hong Kong TVB started very late - televising around Chinese New Year.
Initially, the rating was average (below 30) but steadily climbed to a all-time high of 50 points or so for the final episode. They are now showing "Yee Tow" and the rating is only so so.

Nick, Jewel was never shown on free-to-air TV in Singapore, and is not slated to be shown anytime soon also. It will only be shown on cable. The papers do list shows from cable and sometimes to run articles about shows that are being shown on cable, especially if the show created quite a buzz, like this one.

The papers that I read, namely NST, Malay Mail and The Star don't list anything on S'pore Pay TV.
