SELECTED POSTS
This page, NEWS & UPDATES which is
actually the index page of this website has
grown into a huge database of my almost
daily ramblings of all stuff I hold dear to
my heart, including gossips of the most
sordid kind. For your convenience, I have
posted a list of posts which I thought is
pretty informative in my own way that you
might find interesting. The list itself may
be long but those selected few are the ones
I thought drives home the point I wanted to
make. Do check them out in
MY POINT IS [Comments & Opinions].
SERIES' SUMMARIES
Sometime in 2004 I began
reviewing selected
series in an episode by
episode way, where I
called these reviews
EPISODIC THOUGHTS.
These thoughts are
mostly summaries of each
and every episode with
my opinion of that
episode included in it
as well. I may not
provide the most in
depth summaries but I am
very proud of the fact
that I could keep the
writing on such a long
winded basis each and
every night for the
entirety of the series.
I don't do this for each
and every series though
because it kills a lot
of brain cells, mine as
well as fellow netizens
who often joined in the
discussion by posting
informative stuff. These
thoughts are still open
for feedback and
discussion. Do check
them all out in
REVIEWS where it is
indicated with an

Your suggestions needed! Permanent link ▫ ▫
There is this ongoing debate, first started by someone else and now reignited by me (because it could be hell you know) about who's more talented, who's more potential, who should be given more promo and why that is between Myolie Wu and Tavia Yeung. I thought this would create an interesting discussion point. I do not know what to call the section yet but I am sure you know what I mean.
I need your suggestions, preferably names.
Give me two names each, or two groups each of for example stars of similar age, started off maybe on an almost simrlar path or perhaps different age and different style but worthy of being compared and contrasted. It will definitely infuriate fans but I think it's time for some controversy since this website is becoming more and more bland each day.
for example, Myolie Vs Tavia or Qi Yuwu Vs Shaun Chen or Shawn Yu & Edison Chan.
Similar in many ways but vastly different. I can think of a few but I want your suggestions and I will take it from there.
Post your suggestions in this post.
Anyway is it the trend nowadays to look dark, thin, flat and like a young man in drag? Case in point...
What happened Charmaine? What happened?!? One of the funniest quote I have ever read had to be from her and she didn't mean to be funny. She said she was very thrilled that she can still fit into her qipao (from Miss HK competition) some time ago. I mean girl, you had a fuller well toned beautiful body back then, now you're scrawny thin, dark and exhausted looking, of course you can still fit into it but you can't fill it up like you did. I feel like crying. What happened to Charmaine Sheh? Is she heading for a physical meltdown? Why is her nose covering 80% of her face? Where is her once pretty jovial happy healthy face? Can someone please send a petition to her to please gain some weight and to do away with this tanned look which doesn't work on her? Her fashion sense is still as atrocious as ever. At least something remains unchanged.

I like the Myolie vs. Tavia comparison. Here are some more suggestions:
1. RON NG VS. BOSCO WONG
Often hate to be compared by many, but their career took off around the same time, they were in a lot of series together etc etc.
2. KEVIN CHENG VS. RAYMOND LAM
Although Kevin is older, but he's only playing leads now. I think in terms of career standing with TVB, they might be close and quite equal now (as Emerging Leading Men). When Yummy Yummy comes out, there will be a lot of comparison.
3. BERNICE LIU VS. SHIRLEY YEUNG
Hm...because both came from beauty pageants, dieting ads etc etc. Shirley has already won Most Improved Female Actress; is Bernice to follow this year? Both actresses seem to pursue different routes, but I think they are somewhat equal in terms of career, although Bernice may be ahead in commercials and personal wealth.
4. SUNNY CHAN VS. FRANKIE LAM
Both were quite popular leading men with TVB before leaving and then returning to TVB. Both not gaining much popularity in fame after returning to TVB; who will fare better or both will be forgotten by audiences?
5. SONIJA KWOK VS. JOYCE TANG
Both were on the fast track when they first joined TVB, but somehow their bright star faded (due to their dating relationships revealed). Both actresses are desperate for a hit, but seem to be relegated to secondary roles now.
6. MAGGIE SIU VS. SHEREN TANG
Sheren is enjoying peak of fame like never before, but she seems to be frozen by TVB. Maggie Siu was once very very famous, and recently because of diet ads is again assuming full frontal news. Both started their careers in the same TVB training class and have enjoyed popularity at TVB in their 20's. Now fame is coming back in their late 30's; will it last and who can hang on to it longer?
7. ADAM CHENG VS. DAMIAN LAU
Better acting chops? They're both acting in many roles and both are super impressive. When they were young actors in the 70's they were compared; let's compare them in old age too!
Would love to hear your critical comments on Charmaine too (although I am not a fan), but I could not think of an actress to compare her with. She is ahead in standing than Sonija, although she is not in the same equal standing as Gigi Lai, Kenix, or Jessica in terms of career . Hmm...I just don't think of Charmaine as a leading fadan at TVB.
Please think of their recent growth opportunities at TVB:
1. Kenneth Ma vs. Sammuel Chan
2. Michael Tao vs. Bobby Au Yeung
3. Kenix Kwok vs. Jessica Hsuan (only remaining fadans from original 7 in 2000)
4. Michael Tong vs. Marco Ngai
5. Charlene vs. Gillian (from Twins)
6. Anne Heung vs. Melissa Ng (from beauty pageant days, but never rose to be the top fadans)
7. Eileen Yeow vs. Fiona Yuen
8. Moses Chan vs. Steven Ma
What to call the new section though? And the idea of finding pictures is killing me!
