SERIES' SUMMARIES
Sometime in 2004 I began
reviewing selected
series in an episode by
episode way, where I
called these reviews
EPISODIC THOUGHTS.
These thoughts are
mostly summaries of each
and every episode with

episode included in it

All About Eve & Yummy Yummy

I am like 70% into this series and I HATE this Ying Mei! Shan Mei I quite like but I am getting tired of her always getting upped by Ying Mei. I don't like the camera man because so wimpy, I can't remember his name offhand but he does have this "I will love till I die" look. Ying Xiang Zher or whatever Zher (that Jang Donggun character), whose name I am still not familiar with and I still don't understand why Shan Mei calls him Shiao Jang (Headmaster?) is like my dream man. I am totally in love with him. So handsome, so good looking, so gorgeous and man, this man can really act. I love those subtle acting and can sing and play the piano too! It took a Korean series (Hotelier included) to show to us woman what a gentleman should be and how a gentleman should act or react and yet this is from a country popular with the notion of MCPs! I am totally confused but I must say this;
Between Frank Shen Dongxian (Hotelier by Bae Yongjun) and this handsome man, I prefer this handsome man. Both have their qualitied but this man totally charmed me when he basically brushed his father away and much later ran to Shan Mei's rescue. Ohhhh I love him. I saw Jang Donggun in 2009 : Lost Memories and I already loved him, but this one...I am so involved with this series, 5 years too late!
I told my friend I AM going to watch Winter Sonata and All About Eve since I may the only one who has yet to watch any of these. I am watching All About Eve first. I tell you; with Korean series like All About Eve and Jewel In The Palace, never ever watch the first and then 2nd and then 3 rd episode, because by then you're hooked big time! There is always a reason to continue watching and All About Eve is all about Jang Donggun and the rivalry between the women that got me going.
What a great series, at this point!
Ahhhh Jang Donggun, sooooooooon handsome. Saw a baby picture of his and his parents' as well and I think he took after his even more handsome father. I take back my word abt him being chubby. That's just too cute! I shall refer to him as leng chai from now on! Leng chai! He still looks pretty much the same now, thinner in fact but ugly hair! The way he smoked in this series though...scary...
YUMMY YUMMY
Anyway glad to know Kidd proclaims Shaun (not Shuen, Shuan, Shoon, whatever--I am getting annoyed! SHAUN CHEN!!), the you know who as a hottie although she doesn't think his acting as great. Aiyah, only 1st episode what! Give yourself time. He of course played one of my all time favourite gentleman, Richard Yu in Holland V.
You know the Best Guy of 2004 I did? I think I must do Best Gentleman of 2004-2005. I will be hard pressed not to include All About Eve's male lead and many others!
I have a feeling Sehseh and many are trying to tempt me to rent Yummy Yummy! So many promises of screencaps and all! Top that with a clip and I might run out NOW and rent it! My finger very itchy lar! Aiyahhh...I realise why TVB website no intros of Shaun or even Ericia but only on those few. If I am not mistaken those listed are MediaCorp artistes and Shaun well..ain't one. Tell me, how was his acting?
Anyway bad news though. Until now I have yet to download that K-100 Yummy Yummy clip! Anyone uploaded it to sendit.com? I may be able to download like this them!

This Jang Donggun must be a very magnetic man. My mom once told me that the Malay ladies in her office were all crazy about him. My mom also like him very much, even bought the 'All about Eve' vcd boxset after watching the series, which was a rare occurance, because she usually won't waste money on VCD series boxset.
But no matter how big the hype, I still have no interest in Korean series. Even with a free boxset at home, I still don't have the urge to watch it.
Anyway, for me, the 'Best Gentleman 200X' award holder will be Luk Chi Hin, a character in the ATV series 'Venture Against Time' played by Darren Lim.
I know our local TV screen this after Winter Sonata and my friends were all asking me for the story coz I have watch it long time back :)
Shan Mei ( Chae Rim ) and JDG have great chemistry especially the earlier part when Shan Mei did not even know he's like the CEO of the company and thought he's just an ordinary staff :) The reason Shan Mei call him "Shue Jang" is not interpret as headmaster but "senior " coz I think they went to the same uni ? Thus calling senior is a respectable way to address .
I'm not sure how good you're with Korean stars but Shan Mei , JDG and even Ying Mei are famous stars even now . Also u can catch Ying Mei in Tsui Hark - Seven Swords playing in cinema .
btw you notice Shan Mei's "senior sister " the other lady newscaster ? She's actually Kim Jung Eun and she's even a bigger star now in Korea with hit movies like Marrying the Mafia and hit drama like Lover in Paris .
Plus korean series have great soundtracks to get you into the moods ... meanwhile enjoy !
In contrary, I like Ying Mei (the evil girl) more than Shan Mei. Actually, I hate Shan Mei. ME x100, always crying, oh I'm the helpless, defenseless victim goody two shoes next door girl.
Even though Ying Mei is nasty, but she's not really that evil. Blinded by ambition, yes. But she love her boyfriend, no matter how mean she treat him. She is not beyond redemption. And most important of all, she has talent and the drive to be a great newscaster, so I don't understand why she needed to do all those stuff. But, being looked down at 'because she came from a bad family', she want to prove she can do it, not just based on luck like SM.
And Shan Mei isn't exactly nice. She and the camera guy's mother disliked YM and was mean to her from day 1.
I'm up to episode 4 of Yummy Yummy, and honestly, you-know-who acting is...erm, left much to be desired. But at least the flow of the story is starting to pick up.
Oh yeah, the themesong of Yummy Yummy is the only thing i like best. very happy, relaxing song.
The series start getting good at episode 2 when the race start. Looks like Amazing Race. :)
Ben Yeo's performance won't win him any acting award, but he's effective enough in his role.
Anyway Sehseh, I disagree with Ying Mei just being nasty. I pitied her at first but she conciously went and hurt many many people and frankly she cried as much as Shan Mei if not even more dramatic kinda crying. I can see she has talent too but she lacks likeability which is why a poerer news caster like Shan Mei is more well liked but she didn't believe it. She did so many thing to hurt everybody and I pitied that cameraman guy but after a while I got tired with his attitude. Xiang Zher was more simple in his approach. I love it when he said "See me, you can run to me..I'll wait for you" and sometimes I do think Shan Mei who always runs back to that whiny guy does not deserve a great man like our handsome hero. But then she shyly confessed her love so it's ok you know? I like Shan Mei more. I find her with more integrity, a very sweet girl unlike Ying Mei is who always scheming, if she isn't tired I am. Even if she can redeem herself I feel all is much too late and she has damaged and destroyed her own future. I hate this Ying Mei but I pitied the actress being slapped, kicked, punched, pulled hair, insulted, etc. Poor thing.
I didn't know even the senior lady newscaster is so famous but she is pretty/ I do know Chae Rim etc are all very famous but I have never seen her act before. She looks really cute and I wonder does she sound as cute? As for the Ying Mei actress yeah! I noticed her in that new movie too! 5 years on, hardly changed a bit! But I checked out Jang Donggun's new pics and frankly, far too thin now. I love his look in this series and also Lost Memories.
I must add this; his stride, his walk oh so gaya you know! What an amazingly entertaining series! TVB does not hook me that much anymore you know.
Ok back to You Know Who. You have got to appreciate subtlety AND have patience to see why so many like him. Maybe Yummy Yummy is not the role for him/ I appreciate his Holland V performance, where he hardly moved a muscle but said so much. Reminded me of our Donggun in All About Eve BUT I grudgingly admit, Donggun is a much better actor and a star in his own right and you know who has much to improve on, of course. But at least he looks great eh?
Let me get over the All About Eve fever first then I will go into Yummy Yummy fever. I am so into this drama now!
Well, the good news is, his acting seems to be better than the first 2 episodes, but still nothing to shout about.
A little bit more info on Chae Rim . Do you know she's already married in real life ? She's married to a famous singer (Lee Seung Hwan ) & many actors and actresses turn up on her wedding day .
Also she have acted 3 chinese dramas ?
1. Love in Aegean Sea .
This drama is nice ! The chemistry between Chae Rim and Alex Su You Peng is INCREDIBLE, considering the language barrier.
