MY POINT IS [Comments & Opinions].
SERIES' SUMMARIES
Sometime in 2004 I began
reviewing selected
series in an episode by
episode way, where I
called these reviews
EPISODIC THOUGHTS.
These thoughts are
mostly summaries of each
and every episode with
my opinion of that
episode included in it
as well. I may not
provide the most in
depth summaries but I am
very proud of the fact
that I could keep the
writing on such a long
winded basis each and
every night for the
entirety of the series.
I don't do this for each
and every series though
because it kills a lot
of brain cells, mine as
well as fellow netizens
who often joined in the
discussion by posting
informative stuff. These
thoughts are still open
for feedback and
discussion. Do check
them all out in

I've read reviews about this movie. Nic Tse's monk is pratically the younger self of Lo Ka Ying's monk in the Stephen Chow's movie . They are both very very long winded.
Kungfu Hustle is funny and I enjoy it very much too. But I don't think it's such a big deal. Don't know why everyone give it such high accolades.
I believe HK cinema (and film industry elsewhere as well) should have a variety of different genres of movies including cheap brainless entertainment. Some people just want to be entertain and has a good laugh. Others just want good visual. Not every movie need to be thought-provoking.
I disagree that good movies only occur once in blue moon nowdays. Right off the top of my head, Throwdown, Drink Drank Drunk, Jiang Hu, Men Suddenly in Black, Three...Extremes: Dumplings, Metada Fumaca (Half-Smoke) are also good movies.
Kung Fu Hustle is an excellent movie because it is silly and yet you don't laugh at it simply because it is silly, it is moving, it is beautifully shot and more importantly it paid homage to the types of movies HK has not seen since sayyyy 60s or 50s. It is also great because reportedly the kung fu techniques from the beginning till the end is like a progression of modern technology and kung fu as well, ending with of course THe Matrix style.
HK has very few good movies. For 100 movies, maybe 2. I am not seeking thought provoking movie but there are a majority of tasteless brainless or rather brain dead movies produced by HK which are neither coherent story wise or good acting. Sometimes I pity the good actors having to act in junk and then come out to promote the movie when it is obvious they're performances are without passion and conviction.
Do watch Kung Fu Hustle again. It is brilliant and I hope it wins Golden Globes rather than the messy The Promise.
