grown into a huge database of my almost
daily ramblings of all stuff I hold dear to
my heart, including gossips of the most
sordid kind. For your convenience, I have
posted a list of posts which I thought is
pretty informative in my own way that you

SERIES' SUMMARIES
Sometime in 2004 I began
reviewing selected
series in an episode by
episode way, where I
called these reviews
EPISODIC THOUGHTS.
These thoughts are
mostly summaries of each
and every episode with
my opinion of that
episode included in it
as well. I may not
provide the most in
depth summaries but I am
very proud of the fact
that I could keep the
writing on such a long
winded basis each and
every night for the
entirety of the series.
I don't do this for each
and every series though
because it kills a lot
of brain cells, mine as
well as fellow netizens
who often joined in the
discussion by posting
informative stuff. These
thoughts are still open
for feedback and
discussion. Do check
them all out in
REVIEWS where it is

CLIP : Christian Bale talks about Steven Spielberg Permanent link ▫ ▫
Not sure if you like to download this clip or not but I chanced upon this old clip of unknown source of Christian Bale honouring Steven Spielberg I think in the AFI awards or something way back in 1996 or around that time. Looking very young and un-Bruce Wayne like, he was musing about his filming experience with Steven Spielberg in Empire of the Sun. It was a hilarious account of the past, Steven was clearly quite embarassed and finally I knew Christian must have had a hard time filming that movie as the line between reality and play pretend became very woozy. Do have a look and have a laugh. By the way I can never detect Christian Bale's accent, quite neutral but leaning towards the British kind. DOWNLOAD HERE [2.2mb] URL : http://media.point2e.com/cb_aficlip.swf Note : You will need Flash player to view this clip. I will add the link into Media & Music Files under DOWNLOAD > OTHERS > CHRISTIAN BALE later on. And this I found at imdb.com Batman Begins trivia... " David S. Goyer mentioned in an interview that his favorite pre-audition choice for Batman was Jake Gyllenhaal, but that he was won over by Christian Bale after seeing his test." I shudder at that thought. I mean please, I stop at Tobey Maguire and no more! Jake Gyllenhaal as Batman? I would have fallen asleep watching his most intense scenes! Who's next? Elijah Wood? Of course Christian Bale would have won over the director, he is after all a better actor. And Ashton Kutcher also considered? I hope not seriously considered, just passing mention. Casting the right actor as Batman is so crucial you know, even a faux pas like Katie Holmes and the somewhat over the top storyline could not sink it. Christian Bale is just right, just intense enough. So scary ... and I hope there's a sequel, maybe Batman Continues. That would be nice. I'm in shocked after reading the Batman Begins cast list ... " Gary Oldman .... Jim Gordon Rutger Hauer .... Earle Ken Watanabe .... Ra's Al Ghul Linus Roache .... Thomas Wayne " Ok I can't really recognise Ken Watanabe since I don't know him that well but Gary Oldman? He is forever unrecognisable to me, not even in Harry Potter. This man looks different in every single movie he was in, and he sounds different. Truly a character actor. Shocking too was Rutger Hauer? How many years have I not seen him or may have seen him but can't recognise him? You must watch Ladyhawke, a very moving love story with the worst movie soundtrack ever. AND Linus Roache was the father? I mean, can I ever recognise this actor at all? Have you seen I think called Priest? He was a homosexual priest (with at that time the unknown Robert Carlyle playing his lover, got sex scene also, shocking stuff!) who had no qualms breaking the celibacy oath but could not break the vow of secrecy when he heard a confession by a young girl that her father was raping her. He could not break that vow and yet could not live with his guilt. The ending was one of the most poignant and moving ending I have seen in a movie, where the victim that was the girl whom he have wronged personally forgave him and even hugged him when news broke that he was a homosexual in a very conservative neighbourhood. It is a must watch if you can find the movie. Truly shocking, especially Gary Oldman who gave me a shock to know that he was INDEED Gary Oldman!

Haha, indeed. Aren't u glad he was cast instead of the rest? And now u said it, I would have never guess that Ra's Al Ghul was played by Ken Watanabe. The character looked so... old.
Btw, I thought Christian Bale's accent leaned towards the cockney accent-type. Not too neutral to me...
I recently saw the trailer of his new movie called "Resuce Dawn" and he went back to his skin-and-bones-"The Machinist"-look to play the part of a pilot being taken captive by, I can't remember, the Vietcongs? Interesting, and he's starring with Steven Zahn. Hate his skinny look thou, that emaciated physique in The Machinist grossed me out at times...
Sometimes I wonder how he did it. To be so thin, then pack up to be so fit and then lose so much weight and so thin again. As much as it is dangerous to do so, I must admire his ability to lose, gain in such a short range of time. Or maybe the time range is long, I don't know.
I want to see The Machinist. I just realised I never really watched his movies except for 2 or 3. Some movies I never even noticed it was him! Must get the pirated version though.
Ken Watanabe was in Memoris of Geisha right? He was that man who fell for Zhang Ziyi right? He looked old in there if that guy was him. But Gary oldman totally shocked me.
As for his accent, he is Welsh and he does sound a bit like Catherine Zeta Jones but I read in interviews he rarely uses his actual accent? Can't believe he is so grown up (still see him as that skinny obnoxious boy from Empire of the Sun. He should be more famous though, but he is not. Why can't he be picked to play Aragorn? I can see him as one.
What movies you have seen him in? Read he went to a lot of auditions for many roles but how come he is not more famous than he is iconic? I really wanted him to be Remus Lupin because I can see him as one but Alan Rickman spoilt the castings because you see if SNape is that old, Lupin can't be any younger.
I also marvel at his ability to lose and gain weight within such short time spans. I think probably within a few months, but even if it's almost one year apart, it's not easy for any ordinary person to lose and gain that amount of weight. 'Discipline' is the word, I guess, and oh how I envy that. Proof of his dedication as an actor.
Christian Bale movies I've seen...? There's of course Batman Begins, but there's also American Psycho, The Machinist, Newsies, Reign of Fire and Empire of the Sun, and he uses a different accent in each of these movies (thou it's probably quite similar in The Machinist and Batman Begins). It's true, he seems to be more iconic than famous.
Haha yah, I also once harboured this fantasy of seeing him as Aragorn. Would also love to see him as lead in a 'Kate and Leopold'-type movie for just once, however. He's too handsome to be playing skeletons, bad guys and masked-heroes all the time ;)
Was pretty shocked that he was still cast in a supporting role in The New World even after his successful turn as Batman. He only appeared once in a fraction of a second in the trailer.
Speaking of that, Christopher Noan is directing a new movie called The Prestige, which stars both Christian Bale and Hugh Jackman in the lead as rival magicians in early London, with Michael Caine as Jackman's 'mentor'. ~drool~

Oh yah, according to interviews, apparently the only movie so far where uses his natural accent is Metroland, where he stars with Emily Watson. (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0119665/)
