SELECTED POSTS

This page, NEWS & UPDATES which is actually the index page of this website has grown into a huge database of my almost daily ramblings of all stuff I hold dear to my heart, including gossips of the most sordid kind. For your convenience, I have posted a list of posts which I thought is pretty informative in my own way that you might find interesting. The list itself may be long but those selected few are the ones I thought drives home the point I wanted to make. Do check them out in MY POINT IS [Comments & Opinions].

SERIES' SUMMARIES

Sometime in 2004 I began reviewing selected series in an episode by episode way, where I called these reviews EPISODIC THOUGHTS. These thoughts are mostly summaries of each and every episode with my opinion of that episode included in it as well. I may not provide the most in depth summaries but I am very proud of the fact that I could keep the writing on such a long winded basis each and every night for the entirety of the series. I don't do this for each and every series though because it kills a lot of brain cells, mine as well as fellow netizens who often joined in the discussion by posting informative stuff. These thoughts are still open for feedback and discussion. Do check them all out in REVIEWS where it is indicated with an  [E] next to my name.

OFFBEAT STUFF

There is this one section in here that features offbeat stuff that are not entertainment based. The section is known as FUNN STUFF [COMMENTS & OPINIONS].

PERSONAL FAVOURITES

There are 3 sections in here that contain my personal favourites of all kinds. THE DDGs [COMMENTS & OPINIONS] which features specially made websites by myself with info & all related stuff of my favourite stars or stars I like to talk about, MEDIA & MUSIC FILES [DOWNLOADS] which has my favourite VODs and music files, most of them are taken from Chinese & Korean dramas & movies and some of which I am hosting for my net friends and THE STORYTELLERS [WEBSITES], where you'll find stories written by amateur writers like you and I.

Do check them all out!

The Lake House
Permanent link Post a Comment

I had a day off yesterday and of all movies I choose to watch I chose The Lake House. Probably curious as to how different it is from the Korean version, Il Mare. Truth be told, the Hollywood version made more sense, has a fuller storyline and I think the ending is more touching and moving than that of the rather cold Korean version. You know, I like this movie. It is well acted, well written, well paced (ok maybe a bit too slow but have you seen the Korean version??) and whilst I like the Korean actor Lee Jung Jae Keanu Reeves, a little older is of course yummier. But Lee Jung Jae last seen in Typhoon boasts a more well sculpted body. But the story in The Lake House is much much well written. And the Lake House itself although scary looking but nicer. There is at least a lake in this movie. But it is the ending that is good. Of course there are some big holes in this movie, like how the book Persuasion ended up in her apartment? But there are many romantic scenes in this movie that makes it even more of a love story than Il Mare itself. And it is good that at least Il Mare is given due credit in this movie.

Do watch The Lake House. It's really very nice.

Funn,
I saw this movie already when it first came out and did not like it as much. Perhaps I like the "coldness" in Il Mare more.
Also, I don't like Keanu Reeves.

However, I do agree that the storyline in The Lake House is more fleshed out and easier to understand compared to that of Il Mare.

me too I love Il mare more . Here in Lake House you can see that Keanu read her letter thus avoiding something bad happening to him but in the korean version there's no clue if Lee Jung Jae read the letter plus it's more heart wrenching the reason he got into an accident is because of something the girl ask him to do .. so yeah I prefer the korean version much more and in the last scene where Lee Jung jae walks towards her words can't describe how touching that scene is . In Lake House I was just like "oh ok ... no feelings " don't get me wrong Lake house is nice , see it but Il Mare already make a great impression to me .

Anonymous, I disagree. The story in Lake House is more consistent although as sappy as the Korean version. In the Korean version it was clear he read the letter because he didn't die. He went to see the girl at the time she was moving in. So when he starts telling her what happened it is a matter of faith whether the girl will believe him or not. In the Lake House, I find it more romantic in the sense he went to look for her and at last heed her advice and waited for her for 2 years. So when they met for her it was like yesterday but for him it was a 2 year long wait. Time testing their love and their love prevails. And I find the ending for Il Mare a bit more unbelievable. It means from that moment their love affair starts again instead of continuing. That's not very nice.

We also knew in Lake House he died looking for her. I think that is romantic too. The touching part was him crying when he saw his father's book.

I must say though I think Ji Jeonhyun (hope I got her name right) and Sandra Bullock wore the same red coat when they were both hanging onto the post box crying didn't they?

I like Lee Jung Jae, a better actor than Keanu Reeves but for once I must give credit to Hollywood for rewriting the story in a sensible way which is almost believable.
